Happy Birthday, sj! The cocktails sounded yum.

I had a nice brunch with a friend today, and then we walked around scoping furniture, mostly for grins.

DH and I swapped offices over the weekend for reasons too boring to share, but I love my new set-up!

He seems happy with his, too. It's really half music room, half office for him. Drums and keyboard and synthesizer keyboard thingie take up more room than work desk. And I am glad he's pursuing his hobbies in music more lately.

And me? I have so much more space! And light!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Hec, I have run out of walls.

Yeah, that's where we were in our previous apartment. Now realizing that we were out of walls by a factor of 4 or 5.

I just took advantage of Best Buy's 4th sale to buy two new fancy bigass TVs for the new house, and we're getting the deluxe Installation/Wall Mounting/Polish the Silver While You're Here Geek Squad service. Because we're tired of dealing with this shit!

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

We did what we could with the walls we have. Between the art I already own that's in storage and *MOaR BoOkShElvES!* I could use another room or two just for the wall space. This here picture and the next two. Not counting the three bookcases in my office.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Last night we noticed that our Guinea Pig, Marceline, was very lethargic and not eating.

This morning she wouldn't eat and hid her face from me in the corner of the cage. When I picked her up she'd lost a lot of weight and her breathing was labored.

We called the Vet and found out the small animal vet was on vacation so they referred us to a vet in San Ramon.

So we scheduled a visit with them this morning, and I woke Matilda up so she could go with me. I went to get coffee and when I got back, Marcie had already died.

We were so worried about her sister, Prubs, when she had surgery a couple months ago, but she came through that fine.

It happened so fast.

In a separate post, I wanted to share this essay, which Javachik shared elsewhere: "Baseball, barbecue and losing freedom this Fourth of July." It's an incredible piece. [link]

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

We put Prubs up to Marcie, and Prubs was vocalizing the way pigs do when they call to each other. Basically the "where are you?" call.
