"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Yeah, I'd like to talk to the designer, because I have some notes for improvement.

Oh, are you ready for the lecture on maintenance? Did you have your oil checked on your lower back?

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Not telling DH what is going on until after his surgery Friday. He freaks out and will understand why I withheld. (Really I know he knows he freaks out) My sister will stay with me and deal with logistics for my surgery.

Yeah, I can ca see that. I mean, if you both know the deal, this is the play. It's not like you are avoiding dealing with it, just telling him about it.

Right? I have a shoulder that badly needs looking at and I figure that means surgery so I'm waiting for the Boy's international trip to happen because I'll need looking after for a bit, so when he returns. And then the other half of my back which is a Pandora's box I do not wish to open.

Time says that I could have Long Covid and not even know it.

Not so much in my experience, Time. I knew.

Our wings are not tired.

Well, feeling better about my decision. I actually think the significant abuse by the US tech poking and prodding at the hernia did something to untangle, or move it or something. This morning I can poke at it without any pain at all. Yesterday it was much pain and nausea. So I'll not worry about it and address it when I return north.

Packing for FL is so easy. I have a backpack with the shortest shorts and skimpiest tops I own, and will wear a more decent outfit on the trip for when I have to be actually dressed, which isn't very often in the summer in Fort Lauderdale. That, my toiletries, phone, beats, nook, and chargers. Not even bringing my laptop as I will use Brendon's when I get there.

Son & GF should be up this morning to settle in for a week of pet companionship. Did I mention that he quit his job and is doing Doordash now? He absolutely loves it. He has always had an issue with authority and bosses. The flexibility of schedule and just pickup and deliver stuff suits him so well. He can go offline to drive GF to work or pick her up. Her employer's business burned down, but they are paying full wages for a year while they rebuild. They opened a small outlet while they rebuild and are spreading out the reduced hours among the employees, but still paying them full time. They clearly are the best employers ever. They even gave her a raise when they reopened the tiny store last week.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Glad you are feeling better, Laura! Safe travels. And warm wishes for prosperity for GF’s employers!

Instead of leaping out of bed and getting ready for work I have been googling the winners of the California Milk Council (I think, something like that) pizza contest winners and being bitterly disappointed that while they are all in driving distance from me they do not appear to have the award winning pizzas on their menus. Yet, presumably, but I will not remember to look for them later.

When I finally did get going, I was all set to actually ride to work but made it only a block before realizing that (a) my battery was dead and (b) I need that e-assist to ride into the wind. So bike is at home charging and I drove to work, alas. But I do know I can carry everything I need in my little backpack that hopefully will not be to burdensome for the trip.

Our wings are not tired.

A work in progress. Sounds like it will be nice when you get the logistics all configured.

I think so. Fingers crossed that our big announcement today is NOT that we are moving to the office 20 miles away...

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Her employer's business burned down, but they are paying full wages for a year while they rebuild.

Wow!

Glad you're feeling better, Laura.

I have a shoulder that badly needs looking at and I figure that means surgery so I'm waiting for the Boy's international trip to happen because I'll need looking after for a bit, so when he returns.

I just started PT for my shoulder, which better do it, because a coworker had surgery recently and spent a couple of months after her initial leave trying to come back to work and going back out on leave. Yikes!

I’ve actually had two nights of sleep which, according to my shoulder and arm, were good.

So maybe drugs, maybe a jab of steroids and so maybe PT will suffice.

I’m hopeful.
