Thrive to spite them

E is off to summer camp. He tolerated me walking him as far as the check in for medicine (he didn't have any to check in) and then was firm he did not need anyone to walk him to his cabin. He also tolerated another hug from me.

Although last night he did ask if he could smuggle me into camp. I explained that it wouldn't look great to find me on a boys cabin "I could hide you at the counselors cabin". But today kept reminding me "we see each other almost every day". Which is Skype and not the same plus I won't see him until the day he leaves camp and ride with him to drop him off halfway because 2 days later he has Boy Scout camp.

E also desperately wants a cell phone and has wanted one. According to him out of the 400 kids in his grade there is only 1 other kid without a cellphone. His parents have said if he had social reasons (it friends he wanted to talk to) he could have a phone but he only regualry does stuff woth his best friend who is in NC and also doesn't have a cellphone. I asked him if there any kids at school or Boy Scouts he is friends with but doesn't get to know better and he said yes. Usually he doesn't talk about anything he did during the day or anyone. So he named off some kids.

I advised him that he should talk about them when his parents asked him what he did and let them know he'd like to know them.better but can't because no cell phone. Especially after Boy scout camp and spending more time with them.

So freaking sweet how much you two love each other and each other's (how do I apostrophize that?) company. He is lucky to have such an awesome, devoted aunt.

Thank you Steph! In conversations that only happen with this crew, I can honestly tell you I thought of you with gratitude this morning as I was steaming our outfits for today -- some discussion, sometime, probably here, about how you loved your hand steamer reminded me that, yeah, actually, those are damn useful

And that's why I had one at the ready on this day when it came in particularly handy!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Awww, yay!

Also, yes, handheld clothes steamers are 1,000% better than irons.

Thank you! Flowers retrieved, clothes steamed, people showered, rings and licenses in the car, dinner reservations made.

A break and then I'll put on some make-up, fix my hair, and pack our "go (get your picture taken in 90° heat) bags" and we should be all set.

Seems easy... too easy...

Finding some wood to knock...

Thrive to spite them

I had the neurology appointment. I'm cleared to return to work on the 17th with 4 hours a day for 2 weeks and if that goes well then to bump it up.

The Worker's comp place has been ..incompetent again and I still don't have a referral to a neuro ophthalmologist but the case worker is really working on that.

I call work tomorrow and talk to them, the case worker is also going to talk to them and also me about details. I guess about transportation. and figure out about me going back to work. I have some more questions about things, I didn't get to but those are mostly for the case worker.

I'm both excited and relieved this part of the process is over but also nervous about going back. The neurologist said I'm near Maximum Injury Improvement but I dont' see how that can be determined until I see the neuro ophthalmologist. Something else I have to ask about.
