Poor Matilda's period came on heavily at school yesterday and soaked through all her clothes. She came home early (and we're in finals week).
We've talked with her doctor about putting her on the pill to regulate her periods because they're so heavy with lots of cramping for eight days. It's a lot. I can't believe she was catching all season while dealing with it.
We're starting the process of the move to the new house (which also involves the move of Emmett & Kalena into our apartment). The tenants on our floor moved out over the weekend (leaving only their piano, which will be gone early June) so we're having the wood floors refinished, a room painted, the bathtub sliding glass doors removed for a shower curtain before we move in.
So daily talks with our general contractor and trying to time things with the movers (can't put furniture on the newly refinished floors for 4 or 5 days after they're done).
We still need to buy a couch, and two new TVs. Bought two new mattresses last weekend.
Matilda has exactly two days off before starting her summer job, during which time her boyfriend will be leaving for much of the summer. Also her bestie's BF is moving to SoCal, so their double-couple social unit will be all asunder this summer.
So we've reached the chaotic whorl of everything everywhere all at once.
I am in person at a company Town Hall for the first time…ever? Since we’ve been calling them Town Halls, anyway. They are having technical difficulties getting the Managing Director in virtually, apparently. I am here for the lunch afterwards, mostly, (the guest speaker is a chef and presumably catering lunch), so I hope this delay doesn’t translate into food too much later than I am primed for…
May it be a most tasty lunch.
Life here remains complex. Finally resolved the A/C issue Sunday night so that is a help. Going to Orlando for the weekend for some basketball related tournament. I told DH I would join him so I could get out of dodge a bit. Taking the dog with me. Then next Thursday very early morning we will leave for NY. I hope, if not earlier.
Alas, the time spent with our friend has to come to an end although we still don't have a permanent option. His daughter spends the summer with him and he picks her up this weekend. We are good for a few days, but when DH gets back he will need to go elsewhere. There are options, but another move. Ugh. We never intended it to be more than a few weeks, but then the boat thing became more complicated. Here's hoping the perfect boat at the perfect price happens, like now.
Poor Matilda! That is just a miserable complication in life. I hope her doctor comes up with a solution. I never had luck with taking the pill. Side affect city for me.
Good luck with... all of the everything, Hec, Jz & fam.
Wow, Harris Teeter just robo called me about the JIF peanut butter recall (I already threw it out); that's the first time I've ever gotten a call about a recall. Modern tracking for the win, I guess.
Much sympathy to Matilda. That is so miserable. I hope she can find something that helps.
Good luck with finding a boat, Laura. I had somehow not registered that you were still shopping for one, although I thought I had been following your whole journey and knew the one you had found didn't work out.
Lunch was excellent! The presentation was also very good, he touched on some stuff that I feel like my company tends to shy away from with his background of serving food in prisons and work with at risk youth and talking about how his mother never got to party at the parties at their house because she was always cooking. I had no idea what to expect, so that was a very pleasant surprise. Johneric something from Parks Best in Echo Park is any LA-istas need restaurant to check out
Good luck Laura—don’t you go up to New York soon usually?
I kept thinking there were no new posts here because it logs me out. Oops.
I think our JIF peanut butter got my daugher and me. We were both really sick awhile ago and we had a bad jar of JIF.
Ah crap, there was another shooter at an elementary school.
