That is a lot!
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.

I’m exhausted (and broke) just imagining it.
Oh, wow, yeah, so am I. Any ONE of those things, sure, but...
I'm sorry the visit was so rough, Steph. Big love for Tim. I wish a good vacation for you.

Hooray!!!!!!!
My Dad's mental state is MUCH better today, thank god. Since I can read his chart online through MyChart, I saw a progress note last night noting that the restraints were removed, and I thought, well, that sounds promising. This morning there was a progress note that said "Patient very apologetic about actions and behavior the last couple days. Patient states he remembers bits and pieces of the events that played out but he does not understand why he got so angry because he generally is not an angry person."
So I called him, and he sounded back to normal (which does still include a slight level of craziness, because he does still talk about the hallucinations as though they're real -- he just wasn't seeing them in the hospital room while we were on the phone) and even asked me to bring him a newspaper.
I visited him, and he said that, like the note above says, he remembers bits and pieces, but more or less "lost" about 3 days. Not sure what caused the improvement -- I'm guessing there was/is an infection causing the encephalopathy, but the intravenous antibiotic finally started working and is getting the infection under control.
I honestly expect he'll be in the hospital (or moved to a rehab facility) for at least another week. Because he has some GI source of bleeding they have to find and treat (his RCB count and hemoglobin are crazy low, so he's very anemic), and they're going to want to ensure that the infection stays gone, and then he also has a leg injury from February that's going to need PT before he can safely go home. He has a LOT going on.
So yeah, we're leaving for vacation tomorrow morning as planned. I am so damn tired, I might sleep the entire week.
