That does not sound terrible, Tep. He's being taken care of and you are correct, there is nothing you can do. I hope you enjoy your vacation! And the beer. I have been idly wondering about your dad's hallucinations, I'm sorry it came to a dramatic head but I'm glad there wasn't actual violence or anything.
It's also Dave Brubeck Day. Because, 5/4 time.
I really want this to come up in the trivia thing! I will be ready!
Not tha you needed external validation
Oh no, I very much need external validation, because I feel like the most neglectful of adult children, going to the beach while her crazy parent languishes in the looney bin. (I do get that that perspective is messed up, which is why I'm still in therapy.) (Also, my brother the therapist wants it noted for the record that the reason I have that perspective is because Dad installed it in me when I was 12, which is true.)
Also, enjoy vacation! Where to?
The beach, but South Carolina this time, instead of North Carolina. Folly Beach, near Charleston. (It's oddly a shorter drive timewise to South Carolina than it is to North Carolina [10 hours vs 12 hours]. I assume it's just a straighter shot to Folly Beach from here than it is to Topsail.)

Then I'm happy to serve! And your brother is insightful.
The beach sounds faaaaaabulous!!
Hooray beach!
No Brubeck questions. I came in 4th, which oddly means no prize. Pout

Coming in 4th on May the 4th should get you the grand prize!
Folly Beach is wonderful. My brother and his ex lived there for several years.. in fact they were living there when E was born. The first time I saw E was in the Harris Teeter...I think that's the tight grocery store. I was so exited and mom saw my brother's car in the grocery parking lot so we pulled in and tracked them down. And bro was carrying E in his baby Bjorn thingie and E was...well not tiny...but he was adorable.
Steph I also want to say that you need this trip and go on it. There isn't anything you can do for your Dad right now . This is also a "put your oxygen mask on first" situation....right now you are the priority because you can't do anything if you can't breathe. A lot of stressful stuff had already happened so you need to get your oxygen mask on and breathe and be ready for what comes next.
Coming in 4th on May the 4th should get you the grand prize!
Right? I guess I get the satisfaction of knowing that.
Beach is the very best plan. Yes, both the UTI and anemia can mess you up! He is getting the care he needs and you need to get the care you need!
We thought my brother was hallucinating (would not be surprised) yesterday. His ex-wife, who lives with him, was awakened by him at 7 when he opened her door and told her he got a job doing the fire watch thing and he would be back around 5. She doesn't normally wake until around 11 so she was too surprised to stop him and he drove off in her car. He sold his a while back because he really shouldn't drive. Anyway, she called my sister worried that he imagined the whole thing and was clueless where he was. I checked and found that there was a fire watch place in their small city, so who knows. He stopped working a while ago. So, he did show up again after 5 and explained that a friend got him this job watching video screens checking for fires and he works 8-5 M-F now. Of course he can't really stay awake for a couple hours, much less 8 so this won't end well. We all hope it actually works for him, but chances are really slim. At least we are super grateful that he wasn't hallucinating. He has water on the brain issues, and MS. Should not drive or work, but ass grown man, so not a lot we can do. eta: meant grown ass man, but leaving it
