Steph I also want to say that you need this trip and go on it. There isn't anything you can do for your Dad right now . This is also a "put your oxygen mask on first" situation....right now you are the priority because you can't do anything if you can't breathe. A lot of stressful stuff had already happened so you need to get your oxygen mask on and breathe and be ready for what comes next.
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Coming in 4th on May the 4th should get you the grand prize!
Right? I guess I get the satisfaction of knowing that.
Beach is the very best plan. Yes, both the UTI and anemia can mess you up! He is getting the care he needs and you need to get the care you need!
We thought my brother was hallucinating (would not be surprised) yesterday. His ex-wife, who lives with him, was awakened by him at 7 when he opened her door and told her he got a job doing the fire watch thing and he would be back around 5. She doesn't normally wake until around 11 so she was too surprised to stop him and he drove off in her car. He sold his a while back because he really shouldn't drive. Anyway, she called my sister worried that he imagined the whole thing and was clueless where he was. I checked and found that there was a fire watch place in their small city, so who knows. He stopped working a while ago. So, he did show up again after 5 and explained that a friend got him this job watching video screens checking for fires and he works 8-5 M-F now. Of course he can't really stay awake for a couple hours, much less 8 so this won't end well. We all hope it actually works for him, but chances are really slim. At least we are super grateful that he wasn't hallucinating. He has water on the brain issues, and MS. Should not drive or work, but ass grown man, so not a lot we can do. eta: meant grown ass man, but leaving it

Indeed.
Steph, you definitely need this trip. You have done so much for your father, and he is safe in the hospital.
Timelies all!
What they said, Steph. Take care of yourself.
I'm also aware it's probably pretty unhealthy, but I'm drinking a beer right now, because I literally cannot think of any other way to cope with this shit.
Eh, its not nine beers.
Hang in there. Vacay comes.
I'm aware this is going to sound terrible, but: we're leaving for vacation on Sunday, and I'm not changing my plans to stay home. There is literally nothing I can do to help him. He's in a hospital, which is where he needs to be.
He's where he needs to be and you need to get a few more spoons together. The beach is a good place to gather spoons.
All those years we gathered shells and little did we know...
They were spoons.
Steph, do you what you need to do and take that vacation.
sj, just keeping you and your family in my thoughts.
Today just just bugger off. It's almost 4pm and I'm just now eating and getting started on the list of things that need to be done today. I've spent all of my time up to this point on the phone with Bacardi trying to troubleshoot a system in their visitor center in Puerto Rico. The system is ancient. I didn't design or implement it. It's failing in multiple new ways. They know it needs to be replaced, and they just keep delaying on doing it. It's operating mainly on hope at this point and one of these calls it's just going to not work. They have a quote from me for fixes, but they keep trying to delay until they remodel the entire experience, but that might still be years away. This system does not have years left in it. It might not have days left in it, I just don't know.
