Wow Jesse, look at you productive!
I am having allergies here on the east coast (took covid test but also have had an issue of face and eyelids itching and now peeling?!). But I tried to buy lotion tissues and accidentally got some that have VICKS smell as part of them?!?? Whyyyyhhg.
I am sitting up now. And watching Netflix. Progress is different on different days.
I can see where Vicks lotions might be nice in certain circumstances, but not as a surprise!
JZ was up and out the door early as she tries to get Wifi set up at the Garden Apartment (we've been poaching - with permission - from one of our tenants). But Emmett & Kalena will be moving in next week and need their own connection.
Our poor tenants have had an onslaught of contractors over the last week dealing with three different issues (dry rot in the windows, repair the back stair, tiles in the bathroom).
We hadn't planned on fixing things immediately but we were told that contractors were booked out for months and there were supply chain issues with getting materials so it was best to get things started now and hope for mid-summer.
But everybody was available Right Now, and the windows needed to be fixed Immediately (cracked panes pose hazard to pedestrians below), and the back stairs needed to be fixed Immediately (because the 2nd floor tenants need to get all their stored stuff out of the attic and it's not safe) and the tiles were just going to be a one day job (until somebody stole the contractor's catalytic convertor and he had to reschedule).
Anyway, the wisteria is coming into bloom and the camelias already are in bloom so it's very lovely in the back yard and the bees are happy to visit.
The thing we had planned on and knew was going to happen, but has accelerated on the schedule and has turned out to be very nice is....we're seeing Emmett all the time. Whereas before it was every couple months, and during lockdown we went six months without seeing him, now we're seeing him weekly. And soon he's just going to be living our neighborhood.
It's great. He and Kalena have really struggled during parts of the lockdown so having the opportunity to re-start and live in San Francisco is just a huge clearing of the clouds for them. I can see how unburdened they are becoming. Which is how it ought to be in your early 20s.
Matilda is meeting up with Parks & Rec this afternoon for her summer job orientation. She'll get her assignment then too, but we're expecting her to be at the same camp she did last summer because they loved her.

In my neighborhood the maples have been blooming, which gives me a little hay fever, and the Bradford pears have just started to pop. Nothing from the redbuds yet.
But it is a nice day, and I think I am going to try to get out and about and look for photo ops.
I want to say upfront that I never try to meara one because my memory is terrible and two because it’s often hundreds of posts that I read before posting, and a meara would be 17 paragraphs! So please accept my recency bias.
Jesse, I’m looking forward to living close enough to you to become part of your movie-going rotation! And shrift, I miss being part of your movie-going rotation!
David and JZ I’m so excited about your new adventure as homeowners (or as I like to call myself, “historic home steward”!) and it’s wonderful you’re seeing so much of E & K now.

Jacqueline just posted this on FB: [link]

Thank you! And that was actually an important shift in mind-set we had to make as we prepared to buy a 110 year old house. It comes with necessary stewardship. (Curiously, the thing that helped the most was watching clips from It's A Wonderful Life and Mary converting the old abandoned mansion into their home.)
and it’s wonderful you’re seeing so much of E & K now.
It is! I mean, parents are usually happy to see their grown kids anyway, but Emmett is really just fun company. His sense of humor is
highly
compatible with my own because I INSTALLED IT.
Or trained it up at least. Plus when he and Matilda get together they're very laughy.
Aw that all sounds very nice, Hec. And hi Javachik!!
I am hanging with my sister and baking and watching Bridgerton and I wish they lived closer. Booo. Because I love visiting but I miss my puppy!!
and a meara would be 17 paragraphs!
I want to note for the record that I remember meara doing mearas that had at least 30+ quotes and responses. Back in WX days when we would read every post.
