My mom's oldest sister, who is in her 80s , might have been exposed. She has breathing problems already. She lives with my cousin (her son) and his son, who is 11. The 11 year old has been doing some kind of martial arts that has been safe for the most part. BUT someone at the dojo tested positive. My cousin and his son went to get tested and my cousin tested negative but he wants to get retested again. They wouldn't test his son because of his age, but told them to go to some place where it would cost $150 for the test. And since my cousin hasn't been working as much because of the pandemic they decided not to do that. Instead they are going to isolate and watch his son for symptoms and try to keep him and his son as far away from my aunt as possible.
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Sophia, yes they are in a retirement community in CA.
A good friend of TCG’s dad and stepmom is in the hospital with it right now.
I'm sorry to hear that, msbelle. I hope they'll be okay. If it's any comfort, the wives of two of my cousins contracted Covid, but neither of my cousins did. It's unpredictable. Hopefully, their exposure was minimal. It's so difficult to live in fear like this and so frustrating that our risk isn't only dependent upon how much risk we take.
Did I mention that my FiL was exposed to someone with Covid at his assisted living facility, a second time? His test came back negative, so that's a relief.
Man, I just want to put everyone in bubbles
According to the VA my dad should be in the next eligible group for the vaccine. That’s after people in homes and, I hope and assume, healthcare workers. So not imminent necessarily but at least in view.
Man, I just want to put everyone in bubbles
Agreed.
However, I have only recently come to the realization that I am in general not really okay. It was hard to admit to myself (and I have yet to figure out anything to do about it) because all the particular things that have made this year so hard for everyone have been relatively easy for me - I don't mind being alone, I still have a job and a paycheck, I haven't been physically suffering, so I should be ok. But I'm not.
Yeah. I've been realizing that in addition to missing work I'm missing the atmosphere of working a block away from Macy's and the Christkindlemarket. I also have no exercise regimen beyond going to work and that's really becoming a problem.
Much nocovid~ma to all who might have been exposed.
Meanwhile, here, still no news about Batcat (she is still alive, still not eating, still very frightened. I'm waiting to hear from the vet about today's blood count and general test to determine what's next for her. Options are her coming home to see if she recovers and eats there, or the end of the road).
In non sick cat news, we will have another elections in 2021 and the government is once again falling apart and we are approaching another lockdown. Who needs a functioning government in the middle of a pandemic?
Shir, look at what the U.S. has done without a (fully) functioning government!
Oh, wait . . . .
