Well, other bands know more than three chords. Your professional bands can play up to six, sometimes seven, completely different chords.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Well I splurged today, and ordered a new couch! I have hated my old leather couch for years, and I'm so excited to get my new custom couch with blue velvet upholstery.

We got a peacock velvet one. Ordered it in October, got it in January! It's the first adult couch we've ever owned. AKA, not from Craigslist, IKEA, or a thrift store. (We have an IKEA loveseat in the front room, which is the only couch-like object we'd purchased new before this.)

Hoping for swift clot resolution for him, sj.

Blue velvet sounds fancy!!

I had an I retesting evening—met a friend downtown for a drink to celebrate her new job, we ended up at a random place but had a couple drinks and some apps, and I was going to drive her home when other friends texted so we met up at a different bar and had some drinks there, and it was such fun. I miss that kind of fun!

Oh, because "poutine" sounds too much like Putin. That took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure out.

Oddly enough, Putin is literally spelled Poutine in French because if you don't spell it that way it would be pronounced too much like putain (whore).

Our wings are not tired.

Oh, interesting, and adds to the understanding of the unappetizing nature of poutine at this time.

I have So Much To Do, but the final novel of The Expanse series has me wanting to do nothing but read. So I figure that getting up as early as I do, 5 this morning, I am justified in spending some of those waking hours reading instead of packing. But then it will be done, and I will be sad, but I can't help myself, and so.

What is even happening?

Oddly enough, Putin is literally spelled Poutine in French because if you don't spell it that way it would be pronounced too much like putain (whore).

That's hilarious, Megan. It also takes the poutine name change of the the realm of even-less-sensible-than-Freedom-Fries.

Good luck with your home sale, and finding a dock, Laura.

Good luck with your purchase, JZ and Hec.

Hi Plei.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Papa is feeling better today. I was able to talk to him on the phone last night, and he sounded good. He'll still be in the hospital for a couple days while they resolve the clot. I'm going to take him lunch tomorrow while ltc is at school, and my inlaws are going to pick up ltc from school so I don't have to rush home since I have an hour plus drive to get there. Thank you for the good wishes. I know I should be grateful that he has had a good, long life and relative good health up until this point, but I haven't been able to see him much for the last couple of years because of everything. I just want to be able to spend more time with him.

That's great to hear, sj. Enjoy your visit, too.

I just want to read and chill today. And possibly watch things.

Our wings are not tired.

So good that you are able to arrange to see him, sj.

Good job today alternating tasks. Read a chapter, wash dishes, read a chapter, toss in a load of laundry, read a chapter, prep the zucchini pizza boats, and so forth. MIL & SIL coming to help pack this afternoon, and of courses the guys for the ongoing pool tournament. DH will have to alternate shooting with sorting his clothes. SIL and I will alternate swimming and eating between packing.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

What a relief, sj!

I have hit a WALL with grad school this semester and can't even work up the energy to half-ass the paper that's due on Thursday. (It's a 3 page reflection paper on the readings so far, which honestly should be something I can bang out in my sleep but...ugh. Just don't wanna. The way this instructor is leading the class makes the whole thing feel like a trick question and I'm feeling very "too old for this shit" about it.) When I started this program I was in a really bad place professionally (my previous dept had been dissolved and I was in a temp role I was grateful to have but really did not want to do, and it was a bad fit all around) but since then I've landed on a fantastic team doing a job I love, so when school isn't genuinely engaging it's hard to convince myself I should do it anyway.
