Jeez, don't get all Movie of the Week. I was just too cheap to buy you a real present.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

OMG I got chronological Instagram back!

What wizardry is this?

Thrive to spite them

Tomorrow is a baby shower for M's nephew & girlfriend. No one is vaccinated, his dad just got over Covid. I don't want to go and stay , I don't want M to go and stay. Especially because Sunday we are going to my Mom's. No one will be wearing masks either. M's mom is going to go and that is a risk. He and I have compromised to- going briefly to drop off a present while masked and then leaving. His mom is mad because we won't be going for the whole time she keeps saying "it's his first kid, your sister's first grandchild"

I get that. But there was no funeral service for my cousin, or my dad's cousin Tommy, My dad barely got to even see anyone. No one outside the immediate family was invited to my grandma's funeral. Oh and Tommy's widow and sister both got Covid right after he died.

Plus I'm going to the dentist on Monday where I won't be able to wear a mask around the dental staff so I'm going to try and be as safe as possible.

If they were vaccinated and distancing and had at any point taken Covid seriously then I would have different feelings about this.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'm sorry M's mom is being unreasonable about your choice, askye. Your whole living situation seems pretty fraught and difficult and not because you are making it that way, and I'm sorry you have to deal with it.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Askye, I’m sorry. That’s a difficult situation.

Our wings are not tired.

I'm sorry, askye, but you are making the only right and safe decision.

I like the chronological field—will it quit shoving sixteen people I DONT follow in between those I do? Like, I understand ads, but this is “you like Person so you might also like this post from Random!” And that is somehow more obnoxious than ads? And would be fine if it didn’t feel like they were showing me more of those than they are actual people I follow??

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

So many things are terrible, including my sister testing positive for Covid earlier this week, but I just got an email from my landlord that they are planning to install smart locks. I know enough about IoT to have IMMEDIATE CONCERNS. Major security concerns and privacy concerns, and what happens if the power/wifi goes out? They claim there is a battery backup, but I'm seeing reports that they die frequently. Almost no details have been provided, and the reviews of the app I'm guessing I'll have to use are pretty damning, including tracking your information and selling it to third parties.

If they don't let me opt out of this, then moving may be the next step.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think I am starting to really feel the impact of working on mostly Holocaust related materials since February 2020

I believe it, Shir. I worked for an international healthcare organization during the height of Ebola, and even though my job was in an office in Boston, it was still brutal! It's a lot to carry with you, even if it's not directly affecting you.

I'm sorry M's mom is being unreasonable about your choice, askye. Your whole living situation seems pretty fraught and difficult and not because you are making it that way, and I'm sorry you have to deal with it.

What -t Said!

Since my job is on a slightly off cycle, I am only just now avoiding writing my self evaluation. I have started on some peer evaluations, though! And I'm strategically putting off writing my team's evaluations. Good times.
