Mr. Scola’s wardrobe by Botany 500

I heard that they lost power in Cape Cod. I hope flea is OK.

I just learned that I was eligible for 90 days of Peacock TV Premium for free! Which means I can watch ALL THE CURLING.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Meanwhile, I am now obsessed with the fact that we only have about. 6 PHD faculty who are even considered “real” by the University as a whole, and can in fact get a chair, but more importantly, serve on University committees or vote on anything at a University level. It is similar for the school of education.

That is really bad!

flea definitely lost power, but they seemed pretty well prepared? I am fine! All I have to do is clear off the front steps and my mother's car. My neighbor does the rest with the snowblower. Which is amazing! And this morning he was apologizing for blowing snow onto our stairs. I was like, you are fine! You do literally 90% of this job!

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Also, I made the mistake of responding to someone being wrong on the internet, and now I have been accused of being a deranged person who needs mental help.

Now Pix, you know it's crazy to read the comments.

Happy to report a cousin of mine has gotten engaged. And Mom got a negative Covid test result Friday, so her seasonal cold is just a cold.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I was wrong about my 5-year jacket, the lining does not zip out. I must have been thinking of some other jacket. It does have a handy interior pocket sized to hold my office key card, though, which is certainly convenient.

My silly band just had an online dance party, which ended with me in my apartment alone, wearing sunglasses, doing some of our band choreography to "Dynamite" by BTS, and I highly recommend!! You can just freestyle if you don't know our choreo.

Our wings are not tired.

I’m kind of stunned by my company’s rewards system. We have a program called R3s (rewards & recognition plus our company name) whereby any employee can write up a few words about someone else doing a job well - anything from extra help one time to something major like a lot of nights and weekend work for a major submission. The “points” are basically a dollar toward and enormous catalogue of cool stuff OR one can simply choose a Visa gift card to use however they see fit. I asked HR to run a report last month on 2021 so I could see if there were huge gaps in recognitions and the average amount of points my 55 folks had was like 2000 awarded to them in 2021. One person had 5500 or something because he’s on a program that is extremely active and is always being sent R3s for his weekend work on a program with impossible deadlines. Junior staff (up to associate manager) have a cap of how much and how often they can reward someone but the cap for people who are managers and above is 1,000 per R3 award, and it just needs my approval and that of our HR business partner. It’s unreal. And it’s all grossed up! Meaning if someone awards me 1,000, then the company *actually* gives me something like 1,333 so that they end up paying the taxes due for the 1,000. At my last company, we were able to give colleagues a “cheers for peers” which had to be approved by HR every time (only amounts over $500 have to be approved at my current place) and it was a mug and a $50 American Express gift card. And the kicker is that on your W-2, it showed as $70 that you were taxed on! A $20 mug? Get outta here!

One of my reports, a director, has her 10 year anniversary soon and the reward is 400 R3s.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Today's been a little better than yesterday, as far as Mr. S's behavior goes. Still had shenanigans with his meds in the morning, but he has been a little calmer.
