Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Job~ma, Nora! That is exciting garage news! Yay cat!
3-year Vision meeting went pretty well. I actually did talk and VP asked me follow up questions which I did not expect but it was fine. Cat only leapt across the camera a couple of times. Sigh. My only remaining meeting for the week is something "fun" tomorrow that I haven't RSVPd to yet.
Rapid and painless recovery ~ma to the Covid sufferers. Yuck.
Job ~ma, Nora, and a garage with a door opener is a treat not to be underestimated or underenjoyed.
I am feeling all kinds of hermit-like today. Normally (well, pandemic normal), I order groceries and go pick them up, but I opted for delivery tomorrow instead. And then I don't feel like cooking or foraging, so I ordered BBQ, which is fab, but, also, I'd normally pick it up, but I used Grub Hub this time. Not sure why I'm out of sorts today, but I def am. Moods are weird.
I follow the real estate goings on here with interest.
Job~ma, Nora. Garage access is indeed a treat. Enjoy the kitty!
Good to hear the Vision meeting went well.
Mmmm, fruit loops. It has been quite a number of decades. I think I'll just think of them fondly. Stock roller coaster is likely more scary than the old rickety wood variety.
Nora my family never used the garage growing up because it was full of junk, so go you!! I was v excited the other day that I managed to program my garage door to open from a push button on my car—no more having the opener fall down or run out of battery! I felt fancy. Still do each time I push the button!
Timelies all!
I woke up a few times last night, at least one because I was congested. Feels like my usual annoying cold, and I was not exposed to anyone who tested positive, so I'll be ok.
True, opening the garage from the car button doesn't get old! My car display by default says Garage, but I RTFM and saw that I could rename these things, so I changed the name to Dante's First Circle. Yes, I amuse myself with tech.
The insurance company decided to total DH's truck, which good and bad. Good because it was the other guy's fault and the payout will be a good one. Bad because trucks aren't exactly readily available at any reasonable price. No big hurry since he is driving my car and I'm not going anywhere.
Also our financial advisor is holding our money out of the market right now because it's so volatile
Yeah, pretty happy I moved a chunk of change to cash in mid-December so I could buy back into my stock funds after the inevitable correction that was coming. The gains over the last few years have just been too huge. The good news is, if you parked your 401K somewhere in a good mix of index funds and didn't touch it (which is what you should do with a 401K!), you probably still have a decent return overall.
But looking I see the average price drop in my stock funds over just the last month was 10% or so. Yikes! (FWIW: International did the best and Small-Cap the worst). Now I just need to decide when (and where) to shift it back.
Health ~ma and Job~ma to all that need it!
And House~ma to JZ and Hec. I look forward to your housewarming party!

That's how our retirement funds are -- index funds that we haven't touched since they started, so it is still a decent overall return. It's just that maybe just 4 weeks ago (and prior), it was a much nicer return.

Yup, that's the one. My Froot Loops are in a smaller bowl for sure.
But then again, it's only on paper (or online) right now. None of that matters if we're not cashing out right now, which we're not.
