Apparently if you're enough of a power nerd, there is nothing that cannot be flowcharted.

The good news is, if you parked your 401K somewhere in a good mix of index funds and didn't touch it (which is what you should do with a 401K!), you probably still have a decent return overall.

That's how our retirement funds are -- index funds that we haven't touched since they started, so it is still a decent overall return. It's just that maybe just 4 weeks ago (and prior), it was a much nicer return.

But looking I see the average price drop in my stock funds over just the last month was 10% or so. Yikes!

Yup, that's the one. My Froot Loops are in a smaller bowl for sure.

But then again, it's only on paper (or online) right now. None of that matters if we're not cashing out right now, which we're not.

Yeah, I only move to "cash" because Vanguard makes it so easy to do so without actually cashing out. And I wouldn't even do that if I had other money to buy in with when there are drops. Which I don't sadly. One day I'll start contributing to my retirement again but I haven't really been able to since becoming self-employed.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yeah, I’ll be looking at my 401k again in 10 years. Or maybe not that but no time soon.

Our wings are not tired.

Wishes for hot cocoa (or toddies) and a nice warm crackling fire for my NE snowbound Buffistas.

I have my windows open, but I wouldn't say no to an Irish Coffee.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I'm back to the nibbled to death by ducks stage. Our office final final move was scheduled for last Friday, but streets were blocked off for the right to life march/gathering. In light of that, I'd scheduled today off but the move was rescheduled for today, so I took yesterday off. Came in this morning wearing clothes suitable for moving only to discover that it's been rescheduled ... indefinitely. And my full-size monitor isn't getting a signal from the computer so I'm hunched over trying to read the tiny laptop screen. Tried incr5easing the size but half my icons disappeared.

There's snow predicted - nothing like what was predicted for the Northeast - but the town's freaked out, as usual. I think the snowplow's still available, but they've done the pre-treatment (which seems to be beet juice and salt ... don't ask, I have no idea, but the street's not even pink).\

I may give up, go home and go back to bed.

Mr. Scola’s wardrobe by Botany 500

So yesterday they were saying < 3″ of snow, but this morning they’re saying 8–11″, and probably even more in New England.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

They've been saying 1-2" here, but WXRisk (a weather guy whose stuff I like) thinks we'll be in the dry slot, so we probably will get a dusting at best. I shouldn't be sad—we've already gotten more snow than usual around here this month. And there's a solid shot at snow in a week, too.

Calli, it occurred to me that if your soup isn't as good as you hoped, adding some shredded cheese on top and letting it melt might help. It's good on soup regardless of the quality (for bean soup, I prefer Monterey Jack cheese, but it's up to you).

In more me me me news, since the tech support people were here to see if they can get things fixed up for The Move, one of them took a look at my monitor and got it working. yay! now I can sit upright and actually see what's on the display.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Dang, Toddson, that move seems to have been going on forever and now it's officially indefinite? Jeesh.

Money is so stupid.

Cosigned.
