Just wanted to mention that it's Robert Burns' birthday. I ran across this comment on him:
It’s the birthday of Scotland’s most famous poet, Robert Burns (1759-1796). In his short life, Burns sired twelve offspring, some of them legitimate; and he wrote hundreds of poems and song lyrics, some of them suitable for polite company. When Scottish Television polled its viewers in 2009 on the question of who was the greatest Scot of all time, Robert Burns was the winner (William Wallace was the runner-up).
Ughh. I just had to narc on a colleague who sits across the aisle from me. He's not wearing a mask, and has been coughing all day.
Ugh, indeed. I'm really glad I work remotely.
I've been training a new MA at one of my practices and she has called countless times, mostly because she is just not getting it at all. I already was at a high level of annoyance with her, then she started on the mask wearing and how she really never wore one anywhere before going to work at this medical office and she never got sick. I shut down that immediately by telling her I wore mine all the damn time when I have no choice but to be out and about because I know too many people, including MAs who died. No doubt the office manager will ask me my opinion of her since I have been helping more with training as they are so short staffed. I won't hold back my opinion. Why, oh why, oh why?
I found it ironic that when I was on the Metro with a bunch of people - mostly young - with their "pro-life" shirts, signs, etc., none of them were wearing masks.
Timelies all!
I agree with the ughs on the unmasked people.
Here's hoping Tim's second bout is mild and short-lived, Steph.
That row house is really cute, David. Good luck with the offer!
David & jz - all the house-ma! That place is adorable.
Something nice: Our local hospital gave the library enough single use masks that every library employee could have our own box. What an unexpected thing.
And a patron gave me a gift card to Dunkin Donuts just because she feels library staff don’t get enough appreciation.
sumi, those are definitely nice things!
Yes, those are nice things sumi!
I am so sorry about Tim's Covid, steph. My boss has RA and is on methotrexate and has had COVID once, but she only comes in sporadically. However, her husband is a warehouse manager for Wegman's, so he has a lot of exposure. She is nervous, but was in today and brought me an N-95 mask to wear on the bus. She slipped it under my door because I was working from home today due to a weird meeting/travel schedule ( I had a meeting ending at 5, and one starting at 6, and it takes me 1.5 hours to get home if the bus schedule meshes- which it wouldn't in this case--- I would also have a wait time so if I leave at 5:00, I actually get home at 7:00)
House, David and JZ, House!
I am skipping and skimming to share (because no one else will understand) that I just listened to a Slate podcast where Ben McKenzie (yes Ryan from the OC) is an expert and skeptic on crypto currency and he is really smart and passionate about it! I always liked him, but I didn't expect this sort of deep financial and marketing analysis. He has apparently partnered with a writer and they are doing deep dives into potential problems.
