I like the “immunocompetent” idea! But dislike Tim getting covid again, yikes!!
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Immunocompetent is a good word.
I like the “immunocompetent” idea!
That's a real medical word! It just means having a normal immune system. #TheMoreYouKnow
Well, that is not cool, Steph. Not at all. I wish Tim a quick and uneventful time of it. And I wish for your immunocompetence to excel.
That's as far as it went. But my brain now has the image of me kissing Sigourney Weaver and I don't regret that a bit.
That definitely is in the excellent dream category. (I once dreamed Anthony Edwards asked me to marry him. Not the same, but it was strangely comforting!)
I almost never consciously remember my dreams but I'll occasionally get a feeling that something happened which I think must have been in a dream. Almost like deja vu.
I hope Tim's round of COVID is mild and short.
My department is starting "stay interviews" (as opposed to "exit interviews") to see about the best ways of keeping people. Or to take the temperature and see who's planning on leaving. One person gave his notice the day he had his stay interview, so the interview started with "funny thing, actually." By and large I like the people I work with and the things I do. I just want to do them closer to family (i.e., in Michigan). And if a comparable institution in MI offered me a similar job, I'd find it hard to turn down. Not sure how to convey that (or if I should) in a stay interview.
I don't remember the last time I dreamed about being close to or getting busy with an attractive person. Even my subconscious can't picture it.
That's interesting, Calli.
Calli, I would be highly suspicious of such things at any employer. Like, what are you going to do with my answers? Actually make change, or decide "she seems not into it let's not give her a raise or a good new project, and put her on the chopping block if there's layoffs"
Calli, I would be highly suspicious of such things at any employer. Like, what are you going to do with my answers?
Yeah, I don't know that I would answer honestly.
Because, I remember a job where a Consultant came in and instituted a 360 degree critique of office procedures. And when the Traffic Manager for Publication - in good faith - laid out some of the procedural problems (some of which reflected poorly on upper brass) she got a thorough and public and humiliating reprimand for being negative.
And I thought, "If you had watched Animal House you would have remembered the line: 'You fucked up. You trusted us.'"
I would certainly be suspicious about that at my job, but I had the impression Calli's employers had more in the way of goodwill
