In my mind I am still a kid and I am really miffed that I am expected to work on a snow day.

One wonderful thing about having kids and moving to the suburbs is that I can give myself a snow day by saying I have to shovel and/or take the kids sledding. (Both of which I do genuinely have to do, but, you know, not ALL DAY...)

The next time I am looking to buy a house, would someone please remind me that my people left the Scottish Highlands yonks ago, and it is okay to buy a house on flat ground, with just a little flat driveway, that doesn't have huge retaining walls on either side?

Does anyone ever hear from Rio? I've been following this thing where Biden's incoming Deputy Chief of Staff called GOP lawmakers "fuckers" on account of how they are fuckers, and it makes me think of Rio and FUCKOS.

Oh Rubio is getting dragged in Twitter again for being all pearl clutching over the fuckers remark or "f***kers" as he censored it.

I am on my 2nd day off in a row. I have written some Christmas cards. Realized I need to get wrapping paper to finish wrapping my dad's present and get it to the UPS store to get it mailed out.

I have zero energy. I am sleepy. I slept ok but I'm just sleepy and tired and I know some of it has been all the walking I'm doing at work . But I also think I'm coming down with a sinus infection , maybe. Not sure but I have sinus pressure feeling but maybe it's just the weather change. I know someone at work was out a few days with a really bad sinus infection. I also keep feeling really sleepy. Yesterday I slept in and took a nap and today I slept in and I'm ready to take a nap now and maybe later.

Taboo turned out to be one of the best mousers I've ever seen. She was very proud of herself.

As well she should be. My cat occasionally catches mice and voles when we're out on our walks. Considering there's a giant, loud human on the other end of his leash, I think that's a tad impressive. Anyway, we've never had mice in the apartment, either because they're caught and eaten before I notice them or because they smell a mouse killing predator and look for safer spaces.

Nicolle Wallace vague-tweeted all the pearl clutching last night. It made my heart grow three sizes.

David, that is so terrible. I am so sorry.

I do the peanut butter traps with the covered thingie so I don't have to see the dead mousie. Late Miss Bobo was so shocked by mice, she dropped one on me when I was asleep, and little Miss Petunia played with them too much. Now I have a downstairs person in my house, so I don't get mice, because they stop there first.

I follow her on facebook. She's had a bout of the long Covid (though not severe symptoms I gather, just hanging around forever), and was enjoying adventures in neighborhood opossums earlier in the year.

My closest cousin got a positive antibody test indicating she had contracted Covid at some point, but she can only remember a single day in October when she was unusually achy. I'm simultaneously very thankful that she's been even more careful than I have around Mom, and shocked that it was able to get past all the safety measures she's been religiously employing since early spring.

David I'm so sorry to hear about your friend.

Regarding mice, do traps or an exterminator (We had to deal with mice when we first moved into this house and the company we hired did an excellent job, they seal all points of entry to the house and then guarantee their work), but please make sure they are not using poison. It's a very real threat to predators like owls and hawks. We have lots of folks around here still using poison and it's heartbreaking seeing all the birds of prey that are dying from ingesting the rodents.
