I remember when typewriters were going out and computers/word processers were coming in. SO many people who'd used a lower-case "l" for "1" as well as an upper-case "O" for "0" couldn't understand why things didn't work. I remember people being told that with the new technology each character counts as itself - no substitutions allowed.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
3 and e are right next to each other on the keyboard. And they rhyme, which when spelling something in my head might make a difference. And I still have l33tspeak in my head as an almost legitimate way to spell. So, yeah, 3 for e happens.
For a while there 0 had a slash through it so I could easily tell it from O and I appreciated the assistance.
FWIW, Discovery+ has 4 years of "The Repair Shop".
...now I have to ask myself if I want to sign up for a 7-day free trial and binge-watch all of "The Repair Shop" that wasn't available on Netflix when Netflix still had it.

I learned to type on a manual typewriter that didn't have dedicated "1" or "0" keys so I learned with that substitution. At the same time I had a computer at home and was teaching myself basic programming, so I had to get my brain to switch back and forth on typing.
I also got into the habit of putting a slash across my "0" when writing by hand, but I eventually stopped doing that. I do, however, still slash my "7" when writing long hand.

You and me both! Hmm.

Same. I will slash my zeros if its in a password or something where it isn't obvious from context that it's a number. Also Zs if I'm printing, so it's clear they aren't 2s
Timelies all!
Even though Mr. S watches the most inane stuff on Netflix, at least I'm finally getting my money's worth from my subscription. (I will ignore the disks that Gary and I have had out for years...)
Not nearly as enjoyable as The Repair Shop, but I just found 9 Seasons of Dirty Jobs on the free Discovery app - comes with commercials though, but still fairly conflict free tv.
One of the annoying things about the concussion stuff- I mean besides the Worker's comp issue-is all the things I can't watch.
Tried watching Black Widow- the cuts and flashing lights meant it was a no go. M's mom resubscribed to Amazon Prime for some reason so I tried to watch Th Expanse-I could skip past the flashing parts but the round and round camera work of the first shots of the Roci crew made me nauseous. I tried Hawkeye - flashing lights.
The Witcher I could do if I wasn't totally focused on it and there wasn't a lot of jump cuts and flashing lights and things like that but I wasn't even going to try to watch them all at once (I mean one episode or the whole movie) but I can't even do it in little bits.
Book of Boba Fett has been mostly ok- again watching it while I was eating so focusing on other things so at least one new thing I've wanted to watch I got to.
I signed up for Discovery + since it was cheap and I've ditched my cable thing since it wasn't getting used. Although for some reason some of the Food Network shows seem slow showing up on Discovery. I didn't realize about Repair Shop so I'll give that a try.
I really liked School of Chocolate.
M will like Repair Shop (I think) he's big on Pawn Stars and Antique Road show.
We got an antenae for the tv, which is a Roku smart tv, and neither of us realized about Roku Live tv so there are a lot of options and channels that are just MST3K and Antique Road Show and stuff like that but also a bunch of actual live channels and things. You don't get to pick what you watch but there is always something on
I know kids from football concussions that had to go 1-2 months with no tv at all, so take it easy askye.
