Happy new year, all!
Good news, Dana! Apparently no one I was at church with on Christmas Eve has covid, which is amazing to me.

Timelies all!
Today it was grey and 60 degrees. It's supposed to start snowing tonight, and continue through the morning. Oh, goody.
Hooray for boosters.
Happy New Year, longtime peeps! I love you all (tempted to go into Bilbo speech rn, but I don't have the brainpower to recall correctly--madness). We have finally thawed and begun to melt out of the +/- foot of snow we've had just sitting around looking pretty since Christmas Eve. Of course higher temps are accompanied by 30mph winds gusting to 65mph, but hey, as long as it's not falling the mad monkey marimba band in my shower is quiet enough for me to sleep. Not having a job to go to means theoretically I can sleep anytime. Which right now my little bear-brain is interpreting as sleep alla time. Mmm sleep. I do note the daylight is increasing by the day, which, yay! Other than that, no news from here. Which, given the givens, is good.
My cousin Jay died this morning. If yall could send ~ma and vibes out to his family.
I don't know all the details of what happened with his decline. Every time mom and I tried to talk she didn't have privacy or was just worn out from talking about it. I think a will to love played a role in his decline. When he was in a coma everyone said he wouldn't want to be in the situation he was.
I hadnt seen Jay in decades and frankly when we were kids he often bullied (or tried to bully) me and I thought he always trying too hard to be...tough. But he was always kind and loving towards Mom.
Mostly I'm sad for his son and my aunt and his former step daughters and all the people who loved him and liked him.
Out of 8 first cousins Jay is the 3rd to die, all under the age of 50.
I’m so sorry, askye.
That's just awful, askye. I'm so sorry.
Thank you Tom.
Thanks Jen.
It's just a horrible situation that had no real happy ending.
One of the horrible things is his employer offered health insurance but it was so expensive Jay had opted out of it. I don't know if he could have done anything to prevent the stroke or made the after care better but I'm once again left with questioning if unaffordable health care played a role in a cousin's death.
Oh, that's all so awful, askye. I'm sorry.
