We're having a quiet day here as "the kids" are driving up from Atlanta. Doing our Christmas tomorrow. Today, DP and I are going over to his brother's house with his mom for Chinese food and hanging out (and games, I hope!)

Now I'm going to wrap presents.

I'm up not as early as I planned realizing that I don't know where the roasting insert thing is for the roasting pan. We don't have sage (Dad is bringing some from Mom's) we may not have enough celery and we don't really have a dessert

But what the heck it's Christmas and we are together for the most part and that is the important thing .

I called Mom , she's in Florida, although until she mentioned my aunt I was thinking she was at my at my brother's. Which I don't know why that was a weird brain moment.

Anyway I had to remind my mom that hey...my cousin's son is a kid and today is going to be hard for him.. he is grieving even if he probably can't say that. So just go gentle with him. And your sister.

Then I talked to my brother and E and working on cooking I'm also in my cat wreath Christmas t shirt and my cat Christmas leggings

My friend woke me up at 6am because she had her alarm on and then got up and was emptying the dishwasher and stuff. Ugh. But I had set up monkey bread to rise last night and my makeshift Bundt pan (a Dutch oven with a mason jar in the middle) worked fine and the monkey bread is delicious! We exchanged gifts and had a big meal last night so the plan today is leftovers and chill and movie.

Weirdly this morning I got a “WA Notify” message—it’s the state covid notification app on the phone thing, saying I’d been exposed less than 15 minutes sometime in the past two weeks. So now I’m wondering when (two weeks ago would be not likely to be giving me covid now, two days ago I might!) and who else down here in socal has the Washington notify app on!

In stupid anti-vaxers be stupid news, just got off the phone with SIL in NY. One of her dearest friends and the one who argues politics with DH the most is on a vent and it doesn't look good. She has said she will get vaccinated when she gets released, of course. Anyway, she is otherwise a lovely person and an old friend and we are all concerned. So, SIL says to me that so many of her friends have been infected that she thinks she must have "natural" immunity. She has to test weekly for MTA since she isn't vaccinated. I wished her a Merry Christmas, told her I loved her, and to get the damned vaccine. I'd like to see her again some time! The last couple times she visited her Mom I didn't go see her. Sigh.

It's been fun sending off bits and bobs to various Buffistae this year. If I haven't sent you anything please don't interpret it as a lack of love on my part. I love you all individually and as a group.

I opened the ornament last night and I love it. The crossroads sign from the 4077th in MASH. You always remember my enduring love of that show, and it's also one of the things that Kristin and I share, we are both huge fans of MASH. It is now hanging on our tree and will go up each year and we can think of you and yours.

Awesome. Love MASH. It has aged amazingly well.

So today I have pretty much done nothing but read. I'm okay with this. Still in my jammies.

Mr. S woke up at 3:30 this morning. Yesterday he woke up around 4. Both days he went back to bed for a bit, but was up and bouncing around before 7. Bleah...
