Reasons to be Cheerful, Pt. 3
It's finally cold enough in San Francisco to wear my Warm Green Coat. It's not my Maximum Warm Coat (that would be the Big Black Coat as designed by Justin Timberlake), but it's cozy on a brisk day.
At the cafe, I met the cutest fuckin' dog! He was a little terrier tied up outside and shivering. So I said, Hi, and he got all waggy and came to me and licked me with his stinky fish breath and twirled in and around until he got caught in his own leash and I had to pick him up to untangle him. And I thought he was a puppy, he was so sweet and wee, but Riddle is 10 years old his owner told me. "He's a lover!"
Despite my asymmetrical xmas shopping (Emmett & JZ fully shopped and then some, Matilda barely there, plus need stuff for EM and my MiL) I've still managed to wrap a ton of things ahead of time and get them under the tree. Of course the living room looks like a barn because the pigs have been scattering hay, but we're really just a vacuuming away from having a proper xmassy scene in the living room.
After JZ and I hit the notary, I'm going out to do Extra Shopping and since it'll be in places like Japantown it won't even be onerous (though it will be busy).
I kind of want to do a pumpkin cheesecake. That's a good idea, right?
I woke Matilda up and she got to sit up under her heated blanket and receive a toasted bagel with cream cheese, and a coffee from the cafe. The very height of luxury, waking up to carbs and caffeine delivered to your face.

Never ever a bad idea. Pro tip: ginger snap crust.

First, yes. Second, I made keto pumpkin cheesecake bites for Thanksgiving and they were quite yum. [link]
Concur on the ginger-snap crust.
Teppy, I'm so sorry. Pressure sores are the worst.
I'm spending the day watching the Extended cut of FOTR and doing my Christmas cards. That's a good use of my time, yeah?
Excellent, Consuela!
I'm curled up under a blanket and a cat reading Mystery in White and eating chocolate covered Joe Joes. Its a pretty good situation if I do say so myself.
Oh, Tep. I'm so sorry for you and Tim and Tim's dad and, really, everyone. I'm just hearing med center nightmares from around Ohio, and even in our little bubble of ridiculously-vaxxed privilege here in SF I'm seeing some strains on the hospitals here, and I'm stressing out on your behalf (so maybe if you start to go into a tailspin you can let up on yourself a little--you're going to be upset no matter what, but I'm out here doing my best to siphon off the extra and spread it around a little).
And I just this moment connected the name Miette with meow. What an excellent name.
It is! And it reminds me of an essay I read decades ago in
Premiere
by a reviewer who was just discovering old French movies and who had her own favorite actors but wanted it known that her cat's favorite actors were Miou-Miou, Yvette Mimieux, and Jeanne Moreau because they were the only human actors whose names the cat could pronounce.

You are just crushing Saturday!
I had brunch with a cousin at a place that had a dog menu! Rory had bacon and eggs!
I’m thinking I may make cookies this afternoon—my friends went to the park and dunno when they’ll come back
I had a plan to do many things today that do not seem to be happening. I had wanted to:
- get the big tree up and decorated
- get the small white tree decorated
- go to the grocery store
- do a couple hours of work work
- get some outside decorations up
- knit
None of those things happened YET. The other things I wanted to do, that did happen:
- go to Farmer's market
- go to normal Sat stores (3 stores)
- talk with friend
- do some laundry (load 3 is in now)
- clean some (dishes are done and roomba is roombaing)
- finish audiobook
And now that I've typed it all out and you all know, I will do one of the things on the top list.
