I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Happy birthday Consuela and Gary

Today was very long. I was scheduled to work the sale 10-2 so my original plan was to go into the office at my usual start time of 7:30, work for a couple of hours, do the sale thing, then work another couple of hours, then go to Trader Joe's on the way home. Well, between me waking up and feeling like actually getting dressed was a thing to be postponed as long as possible and our VP telling us the other day that since the cyberattack we cannot assume that we will be able to connect to everythin in the office even if we can from home I decided to just work from home for a while and head over to the sale in time to open. Which I did and that was fine. And the sale was fine although not nearly as busy as last week so the hours dragged a bit. Then it got to be 2 and I was ready to head back to my desk but no new cashiers appeared to take over and the rest of the cashiers were already gone except me and the one who was staying all day and the customers just kept coming so even if I was willing to leave her alone I couldn't. It was really only an extra half hour of being at the sale but it felt SO LONG. Also I hadn't had lunch. So got back to my desk and checked my email on my phone and yes there was something urgent, Target wanted a phone call by 5pm central time so 3pm our time which basically meant right then. I told the guy from Target that I was available but I did not have all the updates about the situation and texted the Sr Director of That Stuff that Target needed a call today and he texted back that he was on another call. So Target called me and I at least found out exactly what information they needed and confirmed I did not yet have it. Then I went and sat outside Sr Director's door for, oh, half an hour preparing to pounce on him with my questions as soon as his call ended. I could hear him through the door, so I could tell he was still on the call that whole time. FInally my phone battery was getting alarmingly low so I texted him again to say I was in the office not WFH today and if he could come by my cube when he was done that would be great and went back and plugged my phone in. Not too long after that he did finish up and we were able to talk over the situation (which is better than I feared but not as good we hoped it would be yesterday) and I sent a summarizing email to Target. By this point I was maybe half hour pat my usual quitting time and STARVING. Popeyes sent me a notice about their daily deal that included mac&cheese so I jumped on that, dragged my tired ass out to the car, drove to POpeye's and picked up my order, and drove to TJ's intending to eat in the parking lot before shopping. Find a pretty good parking space, always a bit of a miracle, dug into my bag and NO MAC&CHEESE. I almost just let it go, but really that was what I most wanted, so I drove back and went through the drive through and explained and they gave me another one so that was all fine just a little extra driving and time. Back to TJ's, the same parkign space was still open (or open again) so I took it and ate.

Whew.

Now, a nice person gave me TJ gift cards for splurging on treats so I decided this would be an entirely indulgent grocery shop and let me tell you that was SO FUN. Every time I caught myself thinking "do I really need this?" I would remind myself I was indulging and a weight would lift off my shoulders. Heard two versions of All I Want for Christmas is You and none of LDB

So now I am home, fed, stocked up and tired. And I don't know what I did with my phone cable but if the battery dies tonoight I DO NOT CARE I will look for it tomorrow.

Thanks for listening, the cat was not being receptive to my telling her about my day.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Thank you all! I got a new Roku, some Irish whiskey, and a new 9x13" baking pan. Oh, and I got my sister to make me a banoffee pie, which turned out marvelous.

Our wings are not tired.

Mmmm, Trader Joes's! I haven't been in so long. Mostly because there always seems to be a line and zero parking. I have been all about the curbside pickup at Whole Foods. I miss my Trader Joe's. TJ gift cards is indeed a nice gift.

I had to Google banoffee pie. Oh my!

Tornado coverage is super freaky and awful. Yes, we get hurricanes, but we know well in advance they are coming and have options. What a horror.

Our wings are not tired.

Busy week here and next week will be even more hectic. A couple icky medical tests finished, which came out best-case scenario. Still have to have surgery as soon as it can be scheduled, but the least invasive option now and just a few weeks of being lazy to recover. Nothing dire or life-threatening, just old age!

Also selling my house! They put the sign up yesterday but the listing doesn't happen until Monday. Thursday they will come and do the whole 3D video walk-through part, with drone photography, and all that. So the next few days we are in full out prep mode. Purging everything from countertops and other surfaces, minimalize throughout. Roof pressure clean scheduled Wednesday. Tired thinking about it. The only sad part for me is no Christmas decorations this year. I usually go all out with the big nativity scene out front, poinsettias, and the big tree and decorations through the house. Nope, realtors recommend none of that. So I may decide to go visit family in snowy regions and just get out of the way. I really want to leave anyway because Wednesday is my grandson's first birthday then Christmas. Right now I don't anticipate them reaching out to us and I don't want to deal with the disappointment.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

We had a warning but nothing too close. I did hear that Jonesboro had a tornado -- isn't that where Matt lives? Matt, are you and your family OK?
