It's all about choices, Faith. The ones we make, and the ones we don't. Oh, and the consequences. Those are always fun.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Meanwhile my employer is sending out pleas for us to sign up for more shifts at the outlet sale because apparently we have no baggers this afternoon (I am already cashiering this afternoon, so I wouldn't be able to help even if I wanted to which really I do not)

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

The company my father worked for for 40 years was very paternalistic in some ways. It paid off for us because for Christmas every year we'd get goodies - a big box from a gourmet/luxury food place (which is where I acquired my taste for anchovies, smoked oysters and caviar) and a 20-pound frozen turkey. We'd keep the turkey in the freezer until the weather warmed up and then my father would get out his fancy-schmancy grill (which had a hood) so he could smoke the turkey. Used hickory chips, so the flavor was great. And it was eaten much more quickly than the usual holiday turkey would have been (by my family).

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Ok, Dana has done everything she can do, it's up to the rest of us now.

Gud knows what I'm talking about. Like, if someone started telling me that I should eat keto or whatever.

"BAT!" And I'm gone.

Yum brownies. I want brownies now….

I made it to the place my friend rented for December and it’s pretty darn awesome! We have concerns about the internet speed but are hoping it can be easily addressed.

I only watched What We Do In the Shadows (the movie? Is there also a series?) at Halloween but it was funny.

How do I say on my year end review, as a goal, “be less intimidating because apparently some people find me intimidating”???

There is a series and it is glorious! Eta: on FX maybe? I watch on Hulu so I don't even know

Something about approachability? Hm. IDK. I feel like there are buzzwords to deploy for this but I don't know them

Man, my poor co-worker. She missed our uncomfortable meeting with the VP yesterday because her granddaughter had to be hospitalized (with, they think, something not Covid but respiratory, so yikes) and then her husband was laid off (yes, on Dec 1 because that's cheery) and now she's about to be the only one in our department actually working in the office, the rest of us will be at the sale or out sick. She just called me for Excel advice so we bitched about the whole situation for a bit, but now I'm abandoning her and I feel bad about it.

Capitalism, man, I do not like it.

In the end it's only ever been one step, and then the next.

WWDITS is broadcast on FX, runs next day on Hulu. I think it's Plei's fault that I'm watching it, and as with most things she has said "GO WATCH THIS" about, I am very grateful.

Saw a meme that suggested it was a lot more true to what you'd get if vampires existed: not a 500-year-old seducer of innocent girls, but a goober like Nandor. Laszlo's stated position of "I'm not going to be responsible because it will cut into my porn-reading time" is counterbalanced by his actions, which are not only responsible but compassionate, and by his Gomez Addams-level love for Nadja.

From what little I understand about keto, vampire bats probably stick pretty closely to it.

(As I watch the point go over my head like Sputnik.)

Flea, good luck on the job decision. It seems like there are pros and cons either way. But if Cape Cod will be better long term, a couple of years in a strange highschool for your son probably won't be too bad. I moved between 10th and 11th grade, and it was pretty good for me. I left a particularly bad environment, and I don't know that your son would be doing so. But making new friends and discovering a new place worked out well.

Our wings are not tired.

WWDITS is broadcast on FX, runs next day on Hulu.

Just added to my Hulu queue.

One onerous doctor visit down, another at 8 AM tomorrow. Getting all this stuff off my list then I can be rid of them for a while.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Does that mean you're in San Diego, meara? Don't ask me for cool places to go or anything, because I'm tragically unhip (like, seriously, Cass or NoiseDesign would have better recs), but if you'd like to try to catch lunch or something lmk (December being... December is tricky, but I'd be pleased to try to manage something).

I only watched What We Do In the Shadows (the movie? Is there also a series?) at Halloween but it was funny.

I actually prefer the series, awesome as the movie is.

How do I say on my year end review, as a goal, “be less intimidating because apparently some people find me intimidating”???

Ask Atropa! She re-wrote something of mine for my review last year and she's Ah-Maze-Ing!
