I heard about the verdict. Matt Gaetz is talking about hiring KR as an intern (although those are usually unpaid positions for Congress). But I guess he'll be getting enough donations that he'll never have to do any actual work.
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I rented out the local skating rink for 2 hours on Thanksgiving Day. It may only be me, but I will skate and eat pizza.
OMG that sounds awesome. Would totally go and drag my parents along if I were closer!
That is fucked up, Toddson.
OMG, Todd, that is some next level tech BS. I'd say you've done more than your due diligence and call it a day.
Timelies all!
We are going to Gary's mom's house for Thanksgiving, now that Mr. S has had his first COVID shot.(He has his second one scheduled for Dec. 1.)

Where’s our teleporter???
I even get to make my own playlist.
dcp, thanks. I spent about an hour and a half talking to tech support ... the first person I spoke with couldn't quite manage it, so he kicked it up a level. The next person was very reassuring - I was afraid I'd come in on Monday and not be able to get into my computer (the notice was sent this morning) and I had a Zoom call of a little over an hour, then trying to write up notes from the call, plus packing - we're moving in a week and a half ... and, being self indulgent (and I was going to kill my boss, the only other person in the office), I took an hour for lunch. Carbs ... very calming ... until I tackled the f*cking MFA.
Ironically, we've been secure up until now. The tech support company, when they were starting, sent out a phishing test; we were the only clients they had who didn't click on the link.
I'm thinking of retiring after my next birthday. I'll be 70 and I've been working, pretty much non-stop, since I was 22 (I was off for two weeks before starting my current job ... in 1997).
I spent far too long in the last 3 days trying to arrange to get my new staff member on board. She's going to be remote, and she starts officially on Monday but won't come to the office until the week after Thanksgiving. HR is perfectly fine doing her onboarding paperwork remotely, but our own office manager is being fucking impossible about some of the forms. Like, he won't put in a request for her computer account unless he has a wet signature on hard copy that he sees her sign himself.
We are at the point where I had to go to his boss' boss and have her tell him we will accept a scan of a signed PDF until she brings the hard copy to the office with her.
This is why people hate the government, I swear.
I know not everyone is into the idea of retirement, and maybe that includes you, Toddson, but that sure sounds like enough work for one lifetime to me.
I'm thinking of retiring after my next birthday.
I recommend this plan!
