So apparently taking an assault rifle to a protest and killing a couple of folks is perfectly fine.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

If you're a white guy it is.
This fucking country. That judge was a biased asshole.
But also: good to see you, Gud!
I have no word on the decision
But from way back, yes JZ, there is definitely an outfit for people interviewing to be professors!
A complete unshockingness.
So should I go to family Thanksgiving? It is just me, my mom, my uncle and my aunt. And MY POSSIBILY unvaccinated definitely unmasked cousin! But my mom is going. I just wish my aunt would tell her stepson he has to mask up!
Hi Gud!!

I'm just nauseous about the whole thing. If/when we get to a civil war in this country one side is both bat-shit crazy and armed. Very uncomfortable about all of this. In particular the loading of the courts with awful judges.
My view is, Rittenhouse was presumed innocent. The prosecution failed to convince the jury otherwise.
I was very surprised that Rittenhouse testified. At the one criminal trial where I was a jury member, the prosecution left room for reasonable doubt. Then the defendant testified and quickly removed that doubt. My take-away was, if you are a defendant, never testify.
That non-decision is just fucking awful and I don't know what to do about it.
Sophia, the rest of you are all vaxxed? It'll be inside and you'll all have to unmask while eating, right? Man, I don't know.
I'm doing Thanksgiving with my parents this year - they are fully vaxxed and boosted, I am vaxxed but not yet boosted, we have all been masking up when out in the world, I think we are probably pretty safe. I had forgotten that we opted out of getting together last year until I saw the decision come up in my FB memories, which made me second guess a little bit, but that was pre-vaccination
I can understand the decision of not guilty for some of the counts, but not for all of them. If you arm yourself and go to a place where there is an angry crowd and end up killing someone because you felt threatened, it just doesn't seem right to not bear any responsibility. That can justify a lot of killing.
Fortunately, everybody we are having Thanksgiving with are vaxxed. I have some very conservative in-laws, but they are blessedly not anti-vax.
