Bill Barr resigned (but submitted such an obsequious resignation letter, I was embarrassed for him for a moment, until I remembered what a son of a bitching bootlicker he is) soon thereafter.

I'm still worried about Trump supporters getting violent around and on Inauguration Day. I wish I weren't, but I don't think it's going to be an easy transition.
Me too, Teppy. I'm also worried Barr's replacement will be willing to do things even Barr wasn't willing to do. And I'm leery of (if not exactly worried about) Pence pulling some b.s. when Congress counts the votes on January 6th.
I have to wonder if Trump wanted stuff that even Barr drew the line at -- which would be a line quite lower than the low standard Barr was consistently giving him.
My fave NPR commentator (Andrea Cabral) said that Barr was actually acting properly holding back news about the Hunter Biden investigation (a real one, it seems) because it looks to be exactly the kind of affair that you don't want to spring prematurely if there's substance to it, so that you don't tip your hand and send the bad actors scurrying.

Barr was fired. At top levels in DC you get told you need to "step down" to avoid the optics of being fired. Trump booted him because he failed to deliver the election, but didn't rage-fire him because he's otherwise been colon-licking loyal.

Gumball's 18 months. He's still pretty big for his age and has mastered All The Motor Skills. His receptive language is good enough that we're probably entering the Spelling Things years. He's been a whiney boob monster the past couple of days, but we put him to bed early, so hopefully that will help his mood.
I have many feelings about the Barr news, but I have no idea how to parse any of them...4 more days of school.
We're looking at a day or two a month of furlough starting in January...but no word whatsoever about what that schedule might look like, and I am SO FUCKING SICK of not being told things.
