Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Mr. S woke us up at 6 this morning. (He fell asleep before 8 last night, so I guess it’s not a total surprise.) He’s been a bit fussy all day. It doesn’t help that Gary and I are both quite tired.

We are at the beach, and our room is made and unpacked. Waiting for friends. So very happy!

Thrive to spite them

Yay for being at the beach JenP.

Today I went to my to aunt's and watched football with Dad and my 2 uncles and Matthew. My aunt went to lunch with her boyfriend and a friend of his that they had planned before this.

When she got back she found a chain for me to borrow so I can wear the cross pendant at the funeral. She found a book, 1001 Beautiful Things, Grandma had given me at one time and wanted back because she missed it but she wanted me to have it. And then my aunt gave me the framed picture of me and my grandparents from when I was about 20 months old. It's been in the same frame for as long as I can remember . I have a copy of that picture but now I have my grandparents verison and a cookbook of hers that had lots of her notes in it.

My aunt said if there is anything not claimed then she's going to do a 2nd round of "take what you want". I told her if no one wanted the poetry Grandma had I would take those.

There is one figurine I would like but I'm pretty sure someone has already asked for it.

I'm so sorry for your loss, askye. Those are some true treasures.

I'm sorry, askye, but it sounds like your grandmother had a good run and your family is pulling together to celebrate her well.

I went out to see a literary reading in the Mission, and we ate indoors (only the 4th time for me since covid started), and the listened to mainstream literary fiction (sigh) in a comic shop (hah!). And now it's raining and I'm watching Leverage. Life could be worse.

Thanks. Today has been kind of a weird day. But we went to the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab and met Jack there (he owns/runs it and is my aunt's boyfriend) and we got to see him feed some nurse sharks and a few other animals.

And visited and it's been nice. My aunt is getting some alone time.

Art Crawl!!!

That sounds like a pretty good day. Do they feed the Nurse Sharks live fish?

I had a bad night’s rest & woke up briefly in the morning & then fell asleep & slept til Noon. When you do that sort of thing in your teens & 20’s? No after effects: not so much as an elderly person: itchy back & knees. Is it any wonder that the older one gets the less you sleep?

Otherwise, I found out that a friend of mine & her husband, who are in their late 60s have come down with Covid. They are vaccinated, but almost 70.

Her husband tested positive first - got monoclonal antibodies on Tuesday which so far seems to have enabled him to sleep well. She took a second test on Friday & was positive. I encouraged her to try to get the same treatment. I understand that they need to catch it early in order for a patient to be eligible. If your lung capacity is 92% or less - it’s too late. Her husband was at 93% when he went in for the treatment. Thank goodness He got there in time.

They had gone out to dinner with her sister & brother-in-law & saw somebody they knew at the restaurant. The next day the friend tested positive so they all went & got tested & at first the husband was the only positive .

I have not seen them in person in months - so am in no danger from that direction.
