Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
That sounds like a pretty good day. Do they feed the Nurse Sharks live fish?
I had a bad night’s rest & woke up briefly in the morning & then fell asleep & slept til Noon. When you do that sort of thing in your teens & 20’s? No after effects: not so much as an elderly person: itchy back & knees. Is it any wonder that the older one gets the less you sleep?
Otherwise, I found out that a friend of mine & her husband, who are in their late 60s have come down with Covid. They are vaccinated, but almost 70.
Her husband tested positive first - got monoclonal antibodies on Tuesday which so far seems to have enabled him to sleep well. She took a second test on Friday & was positive. I encouraged her to try to get the same treatment. I understand that they need to catch it early in order for a patient to be eligible. If your lung capacity is 92% or less - it’s too late. Her husband was at 93% when he went in for the treatment. Thank goodness
He got there in time.
They had gone out to dinner with her sister & brother-in-law & saw somebody they knew at the restaurant. The next day the friend tested positive so they all went & got tested & at first the husband was the only positive .
I have not seen them in person in months - so am in no danger from that direction.
Timelies all!
Ugh. Mr. S woke up at 5:30 this morning. I am very tired.
I am glad to have gotten a booster, but man, I feel like shit.
I'm glad to have gotten my booster and I still am mostly cautious, but there's only so much I can do at this point. I'm in the midst of work that has me traveling (just arrived in Puerto Rico today and I'm here working all week) and work that has me on events with lots of people. All sorts of vaccination requirements and testing in place, but still, I'm in the thick of it.
Shit, I keep forgetting to schedule a shingles vaccination. I'm going to do that right now.
Folks who've had the shingles vaccination, was shot #1 bad enough that I should schedule it on a Friday, so I have the weekend to feel lousy afterwards?
My arm hurt a lot more than I expected it to, but otherwise I don’t think I felt too bad. But I think I did wish I didn’t have to work, just not badly enough to actually call in sick.
I went ahead and scheduled it for Friday anyway, just in case. Go Team Immunity!
Good luck, ND! That's rough.
I got my flu shot the other day but thankfully, though a few friends have said it was really tough on them this year, I just had a bit of a sore arm, nothing else. Though I did end up taking part of a Friday as a "sick" day just because I didn't feel like working.
This weekend has been good--yesterday I spent wayyyy too much money at a warehouse sale a local running clothing brand had, but they hadn't had one in a couple years because of COVID, so....a lot of their stuff that I had was getting old! And today some friends came over and watched a gay film fest movie with me, because they let you rent them rather than go, this year. But it was a very weird German movie that had very little plot and a lot of confusion.
I need to find out when I can get a booster.
I don't think I've been around more people than I normally have been if you count customers but it feels like it.
Twice I've gone into a convenience store and forgot to wear my mask. I haven't been wearing one and my aunt's. Everyone is vaccinated and boostered if they were eligible.
I need to get my flu shot. When I get back I guess.
ND stay safe! Dana I hope you feel better soon.
