When we landed here you said you needed a few days to get space worthy again and is there somethin' wrong with your bunk?

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Is gmail down for anyone else?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Whoever the Democratic candidate winds up being, and whatever issues their stump speeches are focused on, the bulk of work by the party (because the Senate won't do it) needs to be registering voters, making sure they have access to polling places, and protecting the election from interference (including protecting electronic voting machines from cyber-attacks, and working with news and social media platforms to prevent the spread of bots and propaganda).

That's 100% right, and I shouldn't have subsumed all of that under "getting out the vote."

What is even happening?

Youngest is in the hospital with a gut abscess (he has Crohn's Disease). The plan was to drain it, but they can't because of its location, so he's on IV antibiotics for we don't know how long yet. Hopefully that will resolve it.

Any good thoughts or prayers are appreciated.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

My prayers are yours, Cindy. IV antibiotics ought to take care of it. Hopefully he'll recover quickly and uneventfully.

sj, good news about J!

What is even happening?

Thank you both.

sj, I'm glad you have good news.

Theodosia, insent to your profile address. My email address is the long version of my first name and my maiden name. And I called you "Theo" in the email, rather than Connie, because I no longer have real world social skills. :)

Our wings are not tired.

Lot's of healing wishes for your son, Cindy.

Yay for J.

My Prime Days purchase of the robotic vacuum has delighted me big time. It is going round and round doing its thing! Went in and out and around the six chairs at the kitchen table. I keep watching! Whee! Dog isn't thrilled, but just keeps his distance.

Fingers crossed all goes smoothly for your son, Cindy.

Glad to hear J is doing well. sj!

I got a surprise half day off thanks to utility work that had the power off at our office this morning, and actually got some productive sweeping and cleaning of the cat sofa done. Which appears to have used up all my motivation for the day. Why does it feel so much more onerous to drive in to work for 5 hours than it would for 9?

Note to self: if the need to schedule a half vacation day ever arises, make sure the work half comes first.

How are Roombas on carpet?

It has little brushes that agitate the carpet. It has a seriously big task here, so we'll see how it goes!
