I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Woo, Jess!

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Yay, Jess!

My MIL took us out for a much-belated birthday dinner. Good food. and Mr. S wasn't too wild.(Letting him run around a playground for a half-hour beforehand seems to have worked.)

I had lots of blood drawn and got a referral to see a rheumatologist asap. And a routine boob smash scheduled. So that's happening. I adulted. Just gotta keep adulting & decide on which rheumatologist, all of which were recommended personally & people seem to like online: two guys in a regional rheumatology practice where they guarantee referrals appts in a week on their fancy website, but where it sounds like I'd get whoever available & possibly not at the most convenient location. Woman at Sinai here & in DC,younger than me. Howard-grad woman at GoodSam my age exactly with a focus on women.

I'm leaning latter. If it doesn't work out, at least I have options. I mean, I finally got a regular dr. Not sure I'll keep her* but she'll do now for medical shit.

At least the cats are recovering nicely from their dental adventures, Down 7 teeth (also? Vet gave me the teeth? Is this a thing now? I was like okkkkaaaay.)

  • a couple comments that I couldn't really read & my retorts to what I thought I perceived just got passive acceptance. I dunno.

Our wings are not tired.

That is major adulting. I'm waiting another month before I get my blood taken again. Hope to see some positive movement with all my serious diet and exercise changes.

Finding a compatible doctor is tricky for sure.

Yep. Nothing I went hmm at would be a stumbling block in her care of ME wrt to my circs & life. But there might be a clash of principles potentially in there. As in, I wouldn't send some friends there. But it was just wisps & tangled up in my whole "yeah, no regular doc for 2 decades-not the boss of me-authority issues-oh god my body is breaking" anxiety fog. "Did you know you're trembling?" No, but I do it at the dentist of a decade too, & I know them & don't dread them anymore, so.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

That is major adulting.

I feel like I can do like 1 thing toward a big energy thing a day (in addition to the basics of getting myself up, dressed, to work, and actually do work). Feeding myself seems like it should be on that list as a basic, but it is actually a big energy thing because I need to be eating healthier and not eating out as much.

Other big energy things:

cleaning the house, just regular cleaning
fixing broken things in the house, I have a list of 19 things that need to be done
dealing with stuff that is not in a place, this can be projects - can also be decluttering - can also be filing
anything out of the normal, this includes appts not regularly scheduled (drs, car maintenance, school, getting gifts)

Today I ate at home and went to the gym. I thought I would get started on a home repair, but that turned into my dad saying he'd "help", which means it will be pushed off a few days and done with him directing things and me like holding a flashlight and desperately trying not to have an anxiety attack because it will take longer than I anticipated or he won't consider an approach I'd take or he'll say something about the state of my house. (I've paused mid-post to go straighten up my kitchen counters a bit, wash dishes, and vacuum a rug because of writing that last sentence).

It's bedtime, I can try to do something towards something tomorrow.

Our wings are not tired.

I've been more focused on adulting this year, at least in the area of self care. I try and get at least one work thing and one house thing done each day in addition to all the regular have to do stuff. The lists are long. Trying to limit eating out to one dinner and one breakfast or lunch a week. That helps a lot with the diet stuff. This past week I have exercised twice a day most days, beach walk at sunrise then swimming after work. So an hour a day.

I've had to focus inward because all the things out of my control in the world near and far are just overwhelming. Eat well, exercise, get stuff done for work and house. That is something I can do. I'd like to solve the problems of the world, but I just don't have the energy.

I kept hoping that De Blasio was going to not. Oh well.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I kept hoping that De Blasio was going to not. Oh well.

Aside from the complete tone-deafness of a progressive white dude thinking this is his time, everyone I know in NYC who works with/for his office thinks this is a terrible idea. He's FAMOUS for not getting shit done.

Coding and Sleeping

Going to buy my son a car today. Actually, he'll end up paying for most of it. He does have a paying internship after all. Anyhow, it's a bright red 2008 Honda Fit with 127k on it for $2,500. It seems to be in good shape aside from a couple minor cosmetic issues.
