I've been more focused on adulting this year, at least in the area of self care. I try and get at least one work thing and one house thing done each day in addition to all the regular have to do stuff. The lists are long. Trying to limit eating out to one dinner and one breakfast or lunch a week. That helps a lot with the diet stuff. This past week I have exercised twice a day most days, beach walk at sunrise then swimming after work. So an hour a day.
I've had to focus inward because all the things out of my control in the world near and far are just overwhelming. Eat well, exercise, get stuff done for work and house. That is something I can do. I'd like to solve the problems of the world, but I just don't have the energy.
I kept hoping that De Blasio was going to not. Oh well.

Aside from the complete tone-deafness of a progressive white dude thinking this is his time, everyone I know in NYC who works with/for his office thinks this is a terrible idea. He's FAMOUS for not getting shit done.
Going to buy my son a car today. Actually, he'll end up paying for most of it. He does have a paying internship after all. Anyhow, it's a bright red 2008 Honda Fit with 127k on it for $2,500. It seems to be in good shape aside from a couple minor cosmetic issues.
I made toast for breakfast and then had no butter, so I had no toast. That's where I'm at this morning.
Hey sarameg, given all the doctoring, how is your health?

Sounds like he would fit right in?? (Ugh.)
I have done two performance reviews already this morning, and have one to go before I can eat lunch.
The great mystery of job hunting is why you have to enter all of your fucking job experience AND give them your resume. It's on my resume! That's why I'm giving it to you!
Go, Jesse, review like the wind.
I heard a long time ago that statistically speaking the tallest candidate for President usually wins. So de Blasio has that going for him.
I totally hear you on the one-thing-per-day limit, msbelle. Doing that one thing is a huge accomplishment, any day that you can do that you've done a lot. Doing the routine things that you aren't counting is a big deal, too, honestly. The hardest thing in the world is living in it and you are keeping on with it.
I feel like I can do like 1 thing toward a big energy thing a day (in addition to the basics of getting myself up, dressed, to work, and actually do work). Feeding myself seems like it should be on that list as a basic, but it is actually a big energy thing because I need to be eating healthier and not eating out as much.
I feel this entirely, msbelle. Everything seems to take big energy. Many forks, few spoons, no shields. I try to do one Big Thing every day, but that doesn't seem like it's enough. There are so many Things.
I wonder if I went back to work too soon. My head's not in it, and my heart's not either. But if I'd waited any longer, I'm afraid I would've lost too much ground. I keep telling myself, I do it for the money, and I like the money, so buckle up.
