I'm sorry, Scrappy, but yes you made the right decision. Too many obstacles to success there. I hope you find a better fit soon.
YIKES, Hurricane Michael looks just awful. I really hope people have evacuated. Are you in Tallahassee now askye? Mostly it looks like there will be a power issue there from downed trees. Sending ~ma for you and yours to be safe and calm.
How's it going, meara? I hope a plan is coming together for the recovery.
Good hurricane vibes, askye.
I was in Tallahassee but we decided to head back to NC. Michael will make landfall this afternoon but Dad suggested it and we decided to go. Matthew and I will stop if we have to. So far no traffic so we are making good time.
I hope this was a good choice
Have a safe trip, askye. Which part of NC are you heading to? The eastern part of the state is under a tropical storm watch and could get a lot of rain on top of what's left from Florence.
I think that was the best choice, askye. No matter what trees will be down and travel difficult after the storm. Safe travels.
That's probably a good call, askye.
Scrappy, I'm sorry that school didn't work out. If Troy isn't too far, my niece had good experiences teaching in some of their schools. Also, Carpenter Elementary, in Lake Orion, was a good environment for my sister when she was teaching there. Osmun (sp?) Tech near Lake Orion is a STEM magnet that my nephew liked (as a student).
Sure! She probably said "Shavshevet", and this is how it's pronounced: [link]
Awesome, thank you!
In other important updates, my coworker who is on leave had the baby over the weekend, and has now updated her out of office to say she's out til January, so that's good.
Fred we are going to Western North Carolina. Actually we are going to Matthew's house in SC , it's north of Greenville and south of where I live.
We are near Atlanta, about 3 1/2 hours from his house if we don't stop. Which we will need to for a bathroom break.
I absolutely have to work on Monday, I'm working open to close because we are short handed and being stuck in FL was not the ideal situation. Dad lost power around 11. I don't know if he got it back, probably tread trees falling. We did pass a lot of power trucks headed South.
I keep thinking this may have been the last time anyone stayed at the beach cottage. I hope not. My aunt and Grandma live about an hour inland (they are in Tallahassee with another aunt) and their county didnt even have emergency shelters they didnt want anyone stay there.
Hoping for the best, all the way around, askye!
