I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

Oh, Scrappy. That sounds heartbreaking. May better things come your way, and quickly.

meara - I'm out on FMLA myself at the moment and, like several people, strongly recommend not going back too soon. You need to use your energy for healing. I've gone back as soon as possible a couple of times in the past and was just exhausted for a long time afterwards. This time I'm taking every bit of leave I can get. If you can get away with it, wait until you're not only physically better but well and truly rested.

And good luck.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh man, Scrappy. I hope you find a better fit! I know it is out there.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

That's the right choice, Scrappy. You can find a better fit where all you have to offer will be just the right thing.

meara, your ankle is pretty fucked up. And you have a surgery ahead of you. And you're not at home. So all of these things will take a toll. It's not just a broken ankle - it's all of these stressors which are going to be rolling for a few months.

So stay in touch with work and help direct the people who have to pick up the slack. But let them pick up the slack. This is going to be a bit of a long haul, not just one bad event.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

swift healing, meara.

Thrive to spite them

Scrappy I'm sorry this didn't work out. I hope the next assignment is better.

Michael is now supposed to hit and a Category 4 . I don't think anything that strong has hit around here.

We won't get a direct hit but the storm surge is supposed to be devastating for the coast. It is making landfall about 100 miles from where our beach cottage is but the storm surge for our beach area is predicted to be 9 to 12 feet.

Tallahassee is well inland but it will still be lots of trees down. And it is going up through the Carolinas. I probably should have just gone home Tuesday but this has moved and changed so fast.

I'm trying not to freak out. I'm worried we are under prepared for the storm and I may see of the grocery store is open this morning and pick up some more canned food.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

~ma and good vibes to Scrappy, meara, and askye.

I skimmed and stop by just to let you fine people know that thanks to you I had my first grilled cheese sandwich yesterday. I search for a place to eat on my way to other activities, saw the sign, thought "oh, Buffistas said it's good", and yes, it was. Good job!

Mmmm...grilled cheese.

Oh, Shir! I have a Hebrew question for you! The other day, my Israeli friend was asking about the word for pinwheel, and I think she said something like "shevchevitz"? Can you confirm or deny? Google translate isn't transliterating for me, and gave me גלגל שיני.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Sure! She probably said "Shavshevet", and this is how it's pronounced: [link]

Shavshevet in Hebrew has other meanings in addition that include things such as weather vanes.

גלגל שיניי×, alas, is a cogwheel, and explains why we still need human translators.
