There's been a fire about 5 miles east of me most of today. The wind seems to be mostly to the South, so not particularly worrying, but seeing the smoke continue to pile up is not pleasant.

I'm not seeing so much smoke, yay! And my lawn is mown. It still looks terrible and unkempt, but at least it isn't all tall weeds
Oh, meara. That's so miserable.
I can't offer much practical help from here, but if you like I can come up with some alternate stories for when you are asked what happened. For instance... Jeff Gillooly.
Mostly right now I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to like, live, for the next several weeks. When I can't live at home with all my stairs. :( going to stay with a friend for a few days but hate to feel so dependent on them and I won't be able to go do shit...
I'm sorry, meara. It's gonna suck, but those that reach out to help, they want to. I get the chafing (panic) about being so limited. It's scary & vulnerable making. Just take small bites of the future for now.
Yeah, that sounds like it will be hard. I'm sorry. Also super glad you have someone to stay with!
Ugh now I'm super paranoid and can't tell if I have further fucked up the leg, or it's just the normal pain expected and the feeling of having a strong splint, or if my leg is secretly swollen and about to explode and I should already be in the ER again...(pretty sure it's 2, with a possible side of 1, but the fact that a couple times now as I fall asleep I try to jerk my leg/ankle/foot and wake myself up in a lot of pain is not good. But I am so so tired)
meara, I'm available all day (with bonus Peanut), if you need anything (including caffeine and/or a ride to the airport).
Oh meara, I can only imagine the added complexity of being away from home. Yes, remember that people who offer help mean it. I have a nice no stairs house, but a bit geographically inconvenient.
~ma for good drugs and quick resolution to all the logistics.
Oh, meara, you poor thing! I'm sorry the overnight in the ER was so awful. Also sorry you reacted so badly to the opioids. Are they giving you enough pain meds? Make them give you enough to last until you can get more!
Can you try to get the airline to bump you up to first class for the flight home? You'll appreciate the extra legroom, believe me.
David, you rock.
