Ugh now I'm super paranoid and can't tell if I have further fucked up the leg, or it's just the normal pain expected and the feeling of having a strong splint, or if my leg is secretly swollen and about to explode and I should already be in the ER again...(pretty sure it's 2, with a possible side of 1, but the fact that a couple times now as I fall asleep I try to jerk my leg/ankle/foot and wake myself up in a lot of pain is not good. But I am so so tired)

meara, I'm available all day (with bonus Peanut), if you need anything (including caffeine and/or a ride to the airport).
Oh meara, I can only imagine the added complexity of being away from home. Yes, remember that people who offer help mean it. I have a nice no stairs house, but a bit geographically inconvenient.
~ma for good drugs and quick resolution to all the logistics.
Oh, meara, you poor thing! I'm sorry the overnight in the ER was so awful. Also sorry you reacted so badly to the opioids. Are they giving you enough pain meds? Make them give you enough to last until you can get more!
Can you try to get the airline to bump you up to first class for the flight home? You'll appreciate the extra legroom, believe me.
David, you rock.

I'm sure this is too late to help, but I remember this from my ankle surgery, which was far less traumatic. Your body does those involuntary twitches as you fall asleep, and if you've had, say, an ankle operated on, a twitch hurts like hell.
Yeah, I feel like it's a very normal twitch, but it still hurts enough to wake me up!
Thanks for offers of help—made it back to Seattle last night, am in a friend's guest room. But still freaking out a lot.
I can see that. It's a lot to suddenly change. I think some wailing and gnashing of teeth might be appropriate.
Monday morning, gotta call my insurance company. Suuuuper fun.
Oh, are you fucking kidding me. In August, they sent me a letter saying that a prior authorization was needed for my migraine med starting 10/1. I got the doctor's office to send them a PA. They sent me another letter saying that a PA wasn't needed, so it was dismissed.
This month, they need a PA! Apparently since the other PA was sent before October, they just...threw it away? So it didn't count? So we have to run in circles again?
A real competition between insurance companies and the GOP for most evil enterprises.
