Fred: So you don't worry that it's possible for someone to send out a biological or electronic trigger that effectively overrides your own sense of ideals and values and replaces them with an alternative coercive agenda that reduces you to a mindless meat puppet? Shopkeeper: Wow. People used to think that I was paranoid.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I had a quiet evening at home, reading (1.5 books shy of my goal for the year) while the cats stalked a house centipede.

Woke up to feed the cats, take an anti-inflammatory med (for my ankle) and cold medicine so I can breathe, went back to bed and slept til noon.

I just got a request to be interviewed on a podcast. I don't think speaking in any kind of public format is a strength of mine. I guess I should check out this podcast to make a fully informed decision.

FWIW, a good interviewer can do a lot to bring out the best in a guest.

I had a nice and fun evening doing what I love -- chatting with long-time friends in a little house party. We're for the most part old enough now that we're trading stories about hospitalizations and illnesses, alas, but at least in a positive way, you know?

I'm still coming to terms with turning 60.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy New Year!

After we left the party, we went home and put Mr. S to bed. A bit after that, friends of ours showed up and we played games and chatted until midnight.

I just sold my second thing of FB marketplace in 2 days. Not big money, but I am just sitting around the house anyway. Yesterday sold my Rebounder for $5 and today sold 3 multi-colored strands of Christmas lights for $1 each. I have 5 more things listed with an inquiry on one of them.

I'm off to help my mom with a chore, but when I come back, the goal is to list higher dollar clothing items on ebay - $10 min selling price is my new ebay rule for clothes.

It's supposed to be 9 degrees when I leave in the morning. The sun's going down and it's getting colder in my apartment now I no longer have the sun pouring in. My decision to get a south-facing place was a good one. But it's time to put on another layer.

Our wings are not tired.

I have put all my old lights into a big box for disposal as I am determined to get LEDs for next year. My outside lights this year were LED but I need tree lights and maybe some icicles for next year. Lowe's has them 75% off so I'll get some tomorrow. Right now the county recycling center is getting the old ones unless I find someone that wants them. I have a seriously large quantity that need to go. (It is absurdly difficult for me to toss things that work but I am forcing myself to do so)

They actually accept Xmas lights for recycling?!

I am so the child of Depression-era kids, have huge troubles throwing anything out that could theoretically somehow be repaired.

Our wings are not tired.

Here we have to take the lights to one of 7 county drop stations, the same places where you take junk computers.

eta: they apparently crush them and separate out the metal and glass and plastic for recycling

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I spent my day at two open houses, both of which had excellent food (bagels and lox at one, black-eyed peas, fresh waffles and so many other delicious things at the other), so that seems like a good way to start the year.

Actually, one of the delicious things was a dip that is apparently just roasted cauliflower with a little tahini and it was SO DELICIOUS. I think I mostly want to eat cauliflower right now, after that and some frozen tempura cauliflower I had the other day. It's the new broccoli!

And a third thing is getting sold tonight! whoot!

I got the angel tree topper I grew up with and 2 boxes of ornaments from my mother. I may actually decorate the tree tonight.
