I've turned on the CNN New Year's show because my mom's chorus is performing, and wow, the bantering is terrible. I wish there was a way to skip right to the part I wanted.

First fireworks and our new dog, Freya, is terrified poor thing. The vet thinks she was hit by a shotgun in the past, so I can't blame her for being scared.

I'm awaiting JZ to come home after spending the day helping her friend Marta pack up her mother's apartment. (Marta's mom died recently after a long illness.)
I have no idea how we'll celebrate. Perhaps toasted cheese and cocktails.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
We are decidedly doing nothing for the holiday. My BiL is staying with us for a week. He's helping my DH organize the garage in exchange for plane tix out here and lots of time off to hang out. It's lovely to have him here, but none of us are NYE folks, so we're all getting ready for bed. Or, in my case, in bed already.
