I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oooh, bar with a live feed of the escape room sounds great!

ETA Bummer aurelia.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I feel you, Aurelia. With added wheat sensitivity.

Also? I miss tomatoes. It's been years. They even smell dangerous now--alarm! alarm! goes off in my head when I smell cooking tomatoes. Peppers. Onions. But I would kill for two slices of white Wonder bread, a good dollop of mayo, salt, and paprika with sliced tomato. Well, I'd use harsh language.

Our wings are not tired.

Laura, I hope you aren't seeing this production [link]

Whew, totally different people. That sounds just awful.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Y'all -- on Ask A Manager, a boss who won't give her employee the annual birthday day off that everyone else gets because the employee was born on Feb 29 wrote back with an update! [link] Or not an update, but a continued assertion of the boss's rightness! It's the most bananapants thing!!

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Jesse, I literally JUST commented on that post! (I'm SLB, who called the manager a lousy human being but also cheap and unfair. But seriously, time off IS part of an employee's total compensation package, so that employee is receiving less compensation than employees in a similar position whose mothers weren't silly enough to deliver on February 29. And that's some kind of bullshit.)

If they had this policy in my office, I guess I would get Jan 2 off every year, which would be amazing. Ridiculous, but great.

Dang. (a) what a weird policy and (b) how mean to be so literal!

True. I have taken off my birthday all of my life. It was a school holiday and I never went to school on that day, so I carried over the policy to my work life. I did go to work when I worked in Philadelphia because the office there had really great parties.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I like the idea of an extra personal day so everyone can take their birthday off, but (a) MANDATORY? Seriously? and (b) it's not like people born on Feb 29th don't *age* the other three years!

Right?

Maybe they are under some kind of curse, if any employees are on site on the anniversary of their birth they'll, I dunno, ascend?
