"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

The football game turned out to be more of a contest between two teams who really wanted to lose, but the Saints lost that battle, so they won.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Hi sumi! Happy b-day from the other side of the city.

Parker, search for "usb heated socks" on Amazon.
I saw glove ones at Costco the other day.

Man I wish we were going on real lockdown. Wisconsin was just so depressing this weekend. We stopped to pick up dinner on the way and the place was just...every seat at the bar full, no masks, only one staff member even wearing one. I got the F out as fast as I could but it's just leaving me despairing that we will get anywhere before a vaccine. And you know people will raise all kinds of conspiracies and...just ugh.

At least here in Chicago you really only see a few stray assholes with their noses out. We do the grocery shopping for my dad down here as much as possible and I really hate it when we have to go out for anything there. Now that things are so bad I think we'll just do without whatever we forgot until we can bring it up from home more safely.

[I guess for context, since I haven't been around here: my dad lives in my cabin in Wisconsin, just over the border from Illinois, in a small town. He goes only to his cardiac rehab program or doctor. There's no grocery delivery around there, except for some limited options from Oberweis (feh) Dairy. So to keep him out of stores or other contact he gets milk, eggs, etc. from there and we take up other groceries every week or so. At first we weren't going inside or staying over but the isolation was really taking a toll, so we take as much care as we can and, well. And when we are there we go nowhere if we can help it. It's the COVID compromise we've sort of worked out to try to manage both physical and mental health. Grabbing takeout locally seemed ok but I'm officially rethinking that now.]

Our wings are not tired.

So nice to see so many posts from old friends.

I took a few hours off and went to visit with my MIL, SIL, and family including my 3 month old nephew and his 6 year old brother. Little boy hugs were quite welcome. Then I got home 10 minutes before the SpaceX launch which I was able to watch from the front yard. Night launches are the best as they are easy to track even from a couple hundred miles or whatever it is.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend, megan walker.

Happy Birthday sumi!

I meant to lie down for an hour nap before dinner, which turned into a 2.5 hour nap until I was woken up by a wrong number. Thanks, weirdly silent caller! Now to see if I can get Molly to eat the food with her medicine and get Jackson to *not* eat the food with Molly's medicine. (Bless his gluttonous little heart, that's the only difficulty he's given me throughout this damn cat plague upon my house.)

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

I hate the reasons why, but it’s lovely to see everyone. I’m so glad this is a home in which we all feel comfortable, no matter how long we’ve been gone.

Happy birthday, Sumi!

I’m so sorry, megan walker.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

megan, I’m so sorry.

sumi, happy birthday!!

Calli, thanks for the update. I always wonder how amyth is actually doing but I always hesitate to ask her.

Why is it Sunday night? I object. I need more Sunday.

I’m up to Homecoming in my current Buffy rewatch. I forgot that this is the ep where we meet the Mayor!!

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

The Somerville Buffista-pod would not have been nearly as awesome if DX hadn't been a part of it. He's one of my first associations with this community and was just the smartest, greatest, kindest guy. His love for the WKRP in Cincinnati's flying turkey episode always pops into my head on Thanksgiving. I'm just... so sad right now.

I got to know amyth through smonster, and that love and friendship is beautiful and inspiring and smonster would have to talk me through the backstory of specific fandom in-jokes so she could tell me the funny thing amyth had just texted her. This is all just such fucking awful bullshit and all of 2020 feels like heavy stones are being placed on my chest one by one, squeezing the breath and life and joy out of me.

Nice to see so many people. Hi Raq, happy birthday Sumi. I reached out to Freya. I don't recall her board name to the extent that if it was on Cindy's list, I didn't recognize it.
