Natter 76: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Foaminess
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
The Somerville Buffista-pod would not have been nearly as awesome if DX hadn't been a part of it. He's one of my first associations with this community and was just the smartest, greatest, kindest guy. His love for the WKRP in Cincinnati's flying turkey episode always pops into my head on Thanksgiving. I'm just... so sad right now.
I got to know amyth through smonster, and that love and friendship is beautiful and inspiring and smonster would have to talk me through the backstory of specific fandom in-jokes so she could tell me the funny thing amyth had just texted her. This is all just such fucking awful bullshit and all of 2020 feels like heavy stones are being placed on my chest one by one, squeezing the breath and life and joy out of me.
Nice to see so many people. Hi Raq, happy birthday Sumi.
I reached out to Freya. I don't recall her board name to the extent that if it was on Cindy's list, I didn't recognize it.
So sorry for your loss, Megan
I
thought
Freya's board name was after her cat, Freya. I could be mistaken?
I am pretty angry about the whole concept of mortality right now.
Megan, I'm sorry.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ma to everyone!
I've been lurking less lately. for the list keepers, I found out about amyth and DX on Facebook.
if anybody doesn't know my FB name is Toni Sheller.
this year just keeps getting longer.
Still getting used to the new board. It's been ages. It's so nice to be able to use my phone! Thank you, Gud.
Windsparrow, yes board name was her cat's name but different from Freya, I'm pretty sure.
Just saw Beep Me. I'm sorry for your loss, Megan.
Thanks, everyone. As I have been going through my own poking and prodding by the medical establishment (so far so good), it has been quite a few weeks to be sure.
You hosted a couple Buffista-ful shindigs there (and I know I've got pictures).
I would love to see anything you have. Most of the time I lived with Peter I was using my old Pentax K-1000 for photography and rarely took pictures at things like that. IIRC, we did something when Jessica and/or Cash were in town, and that Tom stayed with us at one point.
I DMed EllenS on Twitter about DX.
Oh, Megan Walker, I remember Peter (and that apartment) so well - iirc he’d moved to the east bay. That’s so sad that he’s gone. I’m *almost* over Cash & Guns.
I never got the chance to meet Ed, but I looked forward to his posts.
Megan, I'm so sorry.
In other mortality news (ugh), I just found out that the husband half of the couple who were our next-door neighbors ~1999-2008 died unexpectedly last week, in his sleep, of diabetes complications. We hadn't kept in close touch beyond Facebook and the occasional large get-together since we moved and then stopped going to the same church, but it was still a gut-punch to find out. They were awesome neighbors, almost our exact age, with two kids, the elder a little older and the younger a year or two younger than Alex. I can't even imagine what his wife must be going through right now.
And I would really like all this mortality to slow down for a bit, please-and-thank-you universe.
