Zoe: Next time we smuggle stock, let's make it something smaller. Wash: Yeah, we should start dealing in those black-market beagles.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Hey Gud, might be my browser settings but is there a button at the bottom of a thread page to go to Read New or back to the Message Center, as opposed to using the back button or scrolling up to the top?

Thanks so much to you and Gris for spearheading all of this. It's so fun to be back and the site doesn't trigger my work block!

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

A new Lincoln Project ad.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

My lunch has arrived. I ordered too much. Starting with the ice cream and pie, just in case.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Voted.

Instead of going early and waiting in the cold dark morning for my polling place to open, I took a long early lunch. Had about a 1-hour wait in line -- some sun, no wind, nice temperatures, the plan worked out well.

I love it when a plan comes together

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

There's a lot of discussion about feature requests and whatnot in Building a Better Board, FYI.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Good luck today, people! I've been an election committee worker here a few times before, and I can't get my head around on just how complicated the vote is in the U.S. All of the restrictions (here all citizens can vote), long lines, voting on lots of issues at once, voting via mail, voting via a machine (here it's manual, and the ballots are counted manually), election day not being a national day off... all of it. It's impressive.

Fingers crossed!

Life is uncertain - eat dessert first (forget where I first heard that, but it's good advice).

Our wings are not tired.

I’ve had a few voter dressed people. Flag shirts or masks. One dude jumped and clicked his heels on the way out. Favorite was a 4 generation family that came together with 3 levels voting. Everyone has been good natured and nice to me.

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

It's pouring rain here, a morning for the black tea blend that climbs out of the pot and slaps away the milk jug; my friend adds "And a couple of digestive biscuits, with a cheddar that bites back when you try to eat it". I have blocked all my usual news and social media sites, baked muffins for breakfast and started on the laundry, emulating the esteemed Dr. Amanda Grayson when contemplating a vote with the potential to upend her life: "No matter what happens, the roses need pruning."

Although Alton's "I want you to go out right now and buy Fritos and cat food" is up there.
