I happen to be very biteable, pal. I'm moist and delicious.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Just met Want and Ignorance in the hallway. Ignorance was wearing red fuzzy slippers.

There was a day or mourning for Reagan complete with government closure. Only good thing that man ever did for me.

Because books.

I think the fanfare over GHW Bush might be because he is the most recent president to die. When Reagan died, or Nixon, they had been out of office for longer.

Was Jimmy Carter not at the service? I didn't see him. I did notice that the camera went close-up on all of the former presidents except the asshole in chief, who looked bored, confused and pissed off in equal measures.

NPR said all living former presidents were there

From what I've heard, Carter was there.

Glanced at the video; Carter's there. They're seated in chronological order, so he and Rosalyn are the farthest from 45 (lucky them).

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Is this what we always do when someone who used to be president dies, the Day of Mourning and lying in state?

When I had this question earlier today, I found this article from Nixon's death that says yes, that's what we always do.

The Clinton administration's decision to close the federal government Wednesday in honor of Richard M. Nixon will cost taxpayers millions of dollars, but it follows the precedent of at least the past four presidential funerals.

Administration officials yesterday said the government was shut down for the funerals of John F. Kennedy, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Harry S. Truman and Lyndon B. Johnson, citing those closings as the basis for President Clinton's decision to do the same for the Nixon funeral.

Lucky everyone; there might have been a matter-antimatter reaction if they got too close.

Thanks, Jesse! I guess if we're averaging less 1.5 a decade it's going to always seem old-fashioned, even if we say next time it will be different. And we don't tend to say next time it will be different. So there you go.
