Natter 76: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Foaminess
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
msbelle and Calli, I'm so sorry for your losses.
I wish I was better at healthy coping methods. Not really drinking and eating too much, but so non-functional. Much of my day is now spent on Microsoft Sudoku, or crosswords. No productive focus.
In the past six months I have spent more time playing solitaire than I ever should have.
Almost all I do in my free time is read fanfic. Although I did have a burst last week of playing Plants vs Zombies on the iPad.
Fanfic and Buzzfeed Unsolved. Oh, and vidding.
Thank you.
My coping methods have been varying amounts of online solitaire, mahjong, fanfic, booze, chocolate, and soothing British tv (Gardener's World, Repair Shop, etc.). Sometimes several of them at once. Also, cat snuggles.
the online games I was playing I found increased my anxiety and led me to staying up too late and not doing my work during the workday - not great for me.
Podcasts are doing a good job for me at the moment. I can listen and still work/text.
Sadly reading or even audiobooks are too much focus for me right now. I need to get the book for this month's bookclub and make a go of it again.
It took me a while to get there, but walks after work with the dogs are a good reset for my brain.
Hey, folks, the livestream Mass for Jim's brother is about to start - any spare kind thoughts would be very much appreciated. He didn't get much sleep.
I'm very sorry for your losses, Calli and msbelle.
I have been playing a lot of (free, of course) online poker. I have, in the last month, started tackling small projects around the apartment, so I feel like there's some progress there. But I'm a much better poker player than I used to be... way more so than a well-organized and cleaned apartment dweller.
Oh, gosh, amyparker. All comforting thoughts your and Jim's way.
Sending lots of loving ~ma in your family's direction, amyparker.
Thinking of y'all, amyparker. Much love.
I play little puzzle games of various kinds on my phone pretty regularly. It helps me get my mind straight, sometimes at least, and is easy to walk away from if it isn't helping or I really need to do something else or whatever.
I hope the service goes as well as possible and affords some small level of comfort, AmyParker.
