So we're buying Dominic a car for bday/Xmas. How.is.he.turning.16.

(Really, it's just so mom & dad can get out of the schlepping & Josh's cars are..special. So just getting a reliable boring beater for the fam so dad can try to coax nongearhead son into maintenance & repair since it's 'his' car & son will probably get gearhead younger brother to do the work, for a fee.)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Go for it, Sophia. If Trader Joe's can do it, so can you.

Seriously, there were no potatoes in Eastern Europe until the 16th century, they were frying anything and everything before then I have no doubt.

I have very little sense of who is who in your family, sarameg, but that's shocking. The passage of time, I will never get used to it.

I used to order sweet potato pancakes at Slim Goodie's thinking they would be like larked but with sweet potatoes (they had regular latkes on the menu, so not an unreasonable assumption) but they were more like pumpkin pancakes but with sweet potatoes. Not bad, by any means, but not what I was hoping for.

Hahaha like that tag closes

Josh is my brother, Dominic is my eldest nephew who can't be 16. He was just born unexpectedly in a xmas Eve hail/tornado/thunderstorm in Texas (where they haven't lived in 14 yrs.)

Got it. Still gobsmacked by passage of time, but have the people straight in my head for now.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

It is impossible that Dominic is now old enough to legally drive. It is also impossible that my father just turned 80. Time is moving entirely way too fast. I would really like it to slow down.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Yep and yep re: passage of time. Nilly sent me a picture of her children next to a hanukkiah yesterday - they are so big! Impossible.

When I joined here my niece wasn't old enough for a cell phone. Now she's married and due to give birth any day. Time, man.

I have a dental appointment at a new place today. Wish me healthy bony protrusions!

Our wings are not tired.

"How did it get so late so soon? It's night before it's afternoon. December is here before it's June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?" ― Dr. Seuss

Good luck with the dentist, Calli. I found one nearby with good reviews that I need to check out. I love going to the dental school, but it is over an hour each way in heavy Fort Lauderdale traffic and just too time consuming.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Good luck, Calli!
