Faith: A kid. Angel's got a kid. Wesley: Connor. Faith: A teenage kid born last year. Wesley: I told you, he grew up in a hell dimension. Faith: Right. And what, Cordelia spent her last summer as… Wesley: A divine being. Faith: Uh-huh. Can I just ask--What the hell are you people doing?

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

My company officially gave all US employees the day off for election day. But yeah, taking a few days off around that might be a good idea, just in case.

Dunno if it is an exit interview or a little arm twisting or both.

Both! If twisting their arm doesn't get them to make a better offer, exit on out!

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Oh dear, Epic, that does not sound good. And after wooden sticks for lunch! (I did actually google Pick Up Stix, so I know what it actually is, but my first thought was the game...)

That would have been even more disappointing. The House Special Chicken wasn't bad. Playing with sticks would not have been as filling, I think. IT did get the software going again (server re-start, of course). Then called my desk phone to let me know...sigh. I purposely had them put my cell # on the ticket, but I guess reading the whole thing was a big ask. Thankfully, I figured out independently that it was working again (right around the time he finally emailed me, SMH).

Our wings are not tired

One of the issues for businesses with the payroll tax deferment is that there is little to no guidance in how to handle things like an employee changing job classifications, or changing employers, or being furloughed, or quitting, etc. etc. It is unclear if the business is on the hook, there is no current mechanism for transferring partial deferment to a new company. It's a total hot mess.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Skipped a ton of posts. Classes started up again, and I'm teaching all online. Also, I'm sick. Allergies over the summer developed into bronchitis, as usual. Do not want.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Any Berkeley Buffistas interested in Ursula K. LeGuin's house? [link]

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Oh my god, I want that house so badly.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That is stunning. But how many steps to get in?? Yikes.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Built in 1906, that's interesting. I would really like more details about the kitchen, the two sinks that both seem to have windows to the outside are neat but confusing. Wizards, man.

Librarian Warlord

I lived on that street in Berkeley, just a couple of blocks away. My old apt is for rent, too, at $3200/month, now advertised as a 3 bedroom for those who knew it.
