Zoe: Nobody's saying that, sir. Wash: Yeah, we're pretty much just giving each other significant glances and laughing incessantly.

Librarian Warlord

I lived on that street in Berkeley, just a couple of blocks away. My old apt is for rent, too, at $3200/month, now advertised as a 3 bedroom for those who knew it.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Bidding war for Gud's services! That sounds like it should be an ego boost.

I feel like I'm living in Mordor with this dark red sky. C'mon, hobbits!

Herding cats for fun

It looks like Doom o'Clock out there this morning. Throw the Ring already!

I have checked what time it is and when sunrise was supposed to be at least 3 times this morning because it is legitimately hard to believe that it is not still predawn

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Oy, Hil, I'm sorry. I hope you'll feel better soon.

Probably should be, but mostly I'll just be glad when everything is resolved.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Feel better, Hil.

I was able to get some sausage and egg burritos from the grocery this week. So, that is my lunch today.

Sorry I skimmed past your post, Hil! I'm sorry about the bronchitis, what an icky way to start the school year. I hope you feel better soon.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Good luck, Gud. I don't wish to add any stressors, but i recall Ask a Manager talking about taking counteroffers from your current company, and warned against pitfalls. I found this: [link] It doesn't quite fit your situation - it's directed at people seeking job offers specifically to try to force their employer to make a counteroffer - but some of it may be relevant.

I think she's mentioned before that of people who accept a counteroffer, something like 70% have left or been let go within the year. That does mean 30% haven't, and you know your situation and employer best. But you might find her thoughts helpful.
