Wait, is Dawn in trouble?
Laura, ha!
Glory is roommates with Ben?
Pix, what a relief! Good news for sure!
Oh, that's great, Pix!
2 of 3 conference calls done! The first I expected to be not much of anything, and as a call it was not very involved but the thing it was about turns out be a lot ore involved than we originally thought. Alas. One of those things that if we can do it it will probably make everything run smoother but right now it frankly seems kind of impossible. But it is not my job to figure it out, I just have to implement whatever solutions we come up with. The second turned out to be a 5 minute video chat with the new VP which was...fine, I guess? I mean, I'm sure he'll be fine as a VP but I didn't have any questions or concerns to bring him because frankly all I can think about right now is how much bakeware TJ Maxx can have and how soon, so now I figure I look like a flake BUT that probably doesn't matter too much as long as I do my job, so, whatever.
Maybe I can make lunch now...
jeepers ... things can get SO complicated! Last Monday my boss and I received a notice from the company that sends out our e-newsletter that they were redoing the template ... that week (it goes out Thursdays). We were, as you might imagine, miffed that it was being sprung on us so suddenly and made a point of telling our contact there it would have been nice to have received more notice.
Then the complications got started. The head of our communications team was quite vehement that any form of rebranding, changing style, had to go through her first. I suspected that she'd been notified (since they'd notified her - but not me or my boss - of other changes and she'd never told us), but she says she had no idea. So a higher-up with the company wants to have a conference call; they sent out a meeting invitation for 3:00 today. Later, they sent out an invitation for 10:00pm (which I declined, since I'm not available for work calls at 10:00pm). Later still they sent an invitation for 10:00AM tomorrow. When I asked which was the actual time, the response was tomorrow morning - which I'm OK with - but that the rescheduling was because the head of the communications team had a conflict ... and the vendor assumed she'd have told my boss and me (she hadn't ... which has been an issue, since she does stuff, makes changes, decides on things and never spreads the word). bah!
Head of communications bad at communicating? Well, of course!
yeah, I've pointed this out - neither she nor the rest of her team share information ... to the point that they'll send out a mass email about something but never (1) include staff in the mailing or (2) send a notice about it. I've pointed out that doing either would keep us from being embarrassed by someone calling to ask about something and have the staff person respond with "huh?" ... but what do I know?
Oh, so communications with the public (or customers or whatever) is their job, communicating with YOU must be someone else's job
