Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Just heard from a friend that a friend of theirs that I've met a few times passed away this weekend - possibly COVID (autopsy pending). Only 36 years old and she seemed like such an awesome person. I'm not sure about whether she had any underlying health concerns, but I can't help but wonder if the fact that she was a WOC was a contributing factor to her treatment. Any way you look at it, such a damn tragedy.

I'm so sorry, Epic.

you are doing the RIGHT thing, both for you and for all the others including your coworkers. Keeping all of my digits crossed here.

I actually slept a real night's sleep last night and feel a lot better. My fatigue was just overwhelming.

I just was so aghast when he kicked me out. Like somehow I was special and could work until noon instead of calling him or texting him the night before when I made my appointment as would have been the responsible thing to do.

It's sad though. Any other situation and I'd have gone to my doctor because it was the fatigue that was really concerning me. But random county-provided COVID testing is better medicine than seeing my PA.

DH is very upset. Mostly at her hospital for asking her to come back to work, knowing she wouldn't say no.

They shouldn't have asked. Her age, her DH's age and conditions and basically taking advantage of knowing she'd say yes.

In totally sane employer news, my DIL has officially been told she will be WFH until the virus risk is gone or her maternity leave is done next spring, whichever comes first. Being pregnant puts her in a risk group so she can't go to the office. Period.

Good for them!

Remember how I quit my job? My last day was supposed to be next Saturday. But now it's apparently yesterday

That Band-Aid got ripped off quick.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Oh my flea!

Nice to see you Pix. I too am thinking about how grateful I am for this community. If I hadn't found you guys, maybe I would be one of those people who doesn't wear a mask!!! I was listening to Buffering the Vampire Slayer today and they were talking about being able to hold both loving Buffy, and critically thinking about it in re: of Joss in their minds at the same time, and how fandom is bad at that. I think you guys taught me that!

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Flea, that's nuts but I'm glad you're out.

Well, I'm off work for 5 days, 2 of which I will spend on a road trip to Colorado to stay in the mountains with my brother-the-doctor and his family. Bringing the dog, the laptop, and the mountain bike, so I can do some work from 9,000 feet. So looking forward to it, except for the 2 days in the car each way.

I am staying over in a hotel on Sunday night in eastern Nevada; I just wasn't prepared to camp. Gotta bring some wipes, I guess...

Thrive to spite them

My town is thinking of enacting mandatory face mask for people going to a grocery stores or pharmacies and for all employees. The local FB group was a shitshow of ppl flipping out. One woman kept responding to my actual questions by posting images of boxes of masks that say the don't prevent coronavirus. I explained about reducing risk etc and posted multiple scientific articles that explain why masks work. When I asked her to tell me why those scientists are wrong she never responded.

But there were also people pro mask who were saying things like "would you go to a store with no shoes or shirt"?

Just got back from the grocery store. Seemed like 75-80% of people were wearing masks. Things have really changed here.

Sure sounds like you made the right choice, flea.

That sounds awesome, Consuela! I love the mountains.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Random nostalgia - I'm reading a murder mystery and one of the clues is explained with "Saturday was the last weekend on April - the start of Daylight Savings Time"

Last weekend in April!
