I saw a comment in which someone was saying it's like a zombie movie where people are running towards the zombies. sigh ....

People on my Nextdoor page are arguing that the officials are lying and hospitals aren't full. Labs are lying about cases to get more money, and so forth. This one was at the hospital to have a procedure and saw lots of empty beds. Others arguing back that he wasn't in the damn ICU and yes, people are not going for elective procedures.
I actually understand the 'eyewitness' reports part. When I went to the Boca Raton hospital to have some tests done it looked like a ghost town. The lab and scan areas were empty. Yet I know from my doctors who work at that hospital that they are 100% full for critical care and can't take any more patients. They have a whole floor that is for Covid only and it is full. Nextdoor dude of course would not have been allowed on that floor.
No, I don't waste my breath arguing with these people. The most I do is click thanks to the people that post links to legitimate sources. One guy linked Breitbart as his proof! Then was all offended that others refused to listen to anything but the corrupt mainstream media.
It is a warzone out there. 99% of the time I just come here, or watch fictional television, or read.
Black coffee:
Random work stuff. I exported my email contacts to clean it up before importing them to new mail client. How do I have 3 completely different contacts named Daniel Cohen. Also, good grief. What a chore.
Also, how bad a person am I that I wish a hurricane to hit Jacksonville during the GOP convention? Not a bad one, just a good downpour to prevent the new hairbrained scheme of having thousands of people gather outdoors in August in Florida. Enough to force them to cancel this madness.
I've seen things where people point out that Jacksonville, in August, is less than pleasant outdoors. Hot, humid, frequent rains ... I think a hurricane might be redundant.
There is tropical messiness almost every day in August. It doesn't even have to be a named storm.
I just googled it and average temperature in August 91F with average rainfall of 7.08" in Jacksonville. Sounds about right.
They have lost their minds, but we already knew that.
Toddson, that reminds me of a discussion from a while back...on Livejournal maybe?...of what a zombie movie would look like if it was clearly a metaphor for climate change. The consensus was something like, "People keep denying the slooooooooooooowly rising number of zombies are a problem."
Because that's what this is, of course. It's the whole climate change denial thing all over again, with the timescale compressed to months or weeks instead of years.
"The zombies are going to disappear. One day it's like a miracle, they will disappear."

You're absolutely right, same thing, just slower and with much higher stakes.
"The zombies are going to disappear. One day it's like a miracle, they will disappear."
Not to worry, when it gets warmer it will go away.
Well, we have a hero ... with his own theme song.
