I don't fancy spending the next month trying to get librarian out of the carpet.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Would it persuade your dad to know there are people who need that job waaaay more than he does?

And here we are a few weeks later in Chicago, when DavidS had his book reading at Quimby's. I see Knut, tommyrot, erinaceous, and Madrigal!

I think I caught up with you after the reading!

Today I was given an actual work assignment for the week (budget estimate for a large, possibly imaginary, show) and got texts/messages from several people I haven't heard from in a while. That's a lot after two weeks of just the cats.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I think I caught up with you after the reading!

Yes, that was a superfun outing. Chicagoistas, and expat Wisconsonites.

Ann, that's a ferret.

And I am still not talking to him because I'm so angry about it. I know that kind of anger isn't healthy, but it's such a phenomenally fucking stupid thing to do.

It probably doesn't help, but this reminds me of a pin I once had that said, "I used to be disgusted. Now I'm just amused."

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

DH made a grocery run today and the checker reminded him that they have special hours just for senior citizens.

I have not stopped laughing.

That was a laugh I needed! LOLOLOLOLOL.

I need to go to work today or tomorrow and pick up a prescription and possibly a laptop if I can't get this new one to connect to my hotspot. I was really avoiding public transportation, but I am not sure if people are still driving Uber, since I haven't really left the house except on walking trips (I can walk to the grocery store)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

In much lighter news, I am glad I spent a lot of money getting my hair done on the last possible day, because otherwise I would be VERY TEMPTED to cut and/or color it myself.

I got my hair cut and colored at the beginning of March (are we all in agreement that the beginning of March was 107 DAYS AGO???) for our friends' wedding. I usually only get it colored in the spring and fall, so I'm good on color.

I just added a bleach kit to my Amazon subscription box (I have plenty of dye but I don't keep extra bleach around), and am probably 3-4 days away from asking DH to use clippers on the back and side of my head. I can go without a full cut for a while longer, but I usually go in to get the sides cleaned up evert 2 weeks.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I managed to get my hair cut before the salons closed down and I decided that my February dye job would be the last, so it was growing out anyway. I guess I picked the right time to stop having my hair colored ... no hair color, no more cuts, no styling, no makeup ... I may be going feral. grrr

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Yeah, I'd been wondering about the best way to transition from my pixie cut to a short bob. Turns out the answer is: pandemic and stay-at-home orders.

Honestly, I would have been happy to just get some barrettes.

Our wings are not tired.

My sister's hair stylist sent an email to her clients asking them to please resist the temptation to buy color at the grocery store or trim themselves "because I can't fix that shit". Suggested the best way to hide the roots was staying at home.

I'm hearing more people clamoring for antibody tests because they are pretty sure, for good reason, that they already recovered from the illness. I don't necessarily think my household is in that category unless it was super mild, but I do know some people that very likely did get it and recovered after being damn sick at home. A couple of them healthcare workers. It would be really helpful to know for sure.

I've seen some things on the internet where people have cut and/or colored their own hair. Good, bad, odd ... the only consolation is that they're not likely to be seen, so it's a good time for it.

In other news, seemingly, pajama bottoms are selling well - people are doing online meetings, so they only need to have nice tops. Kind of like a clothing mullet?

I've been coloring my own hair for the past 25 years, and it's pretty hard to screw up cutting with clippers. (DH already trims his own beard and shaves his head, so I know he has a steady hand.)
